Hi Chrissy,

I can imagine the turmoil you're in just now.

(It's 3.30 am here! I went out with a girlfriend from school this

evening. She came back to the house and we've been chatting since!

Gossip! She's just got a taxi home.)

I just wanted to say I'm thinking about you. Yes, I've got my EUS

date...18th August. I'm terrified, not of the test itself but of

what they might find.

Chrissy, who told you it would be detrimental to any reapplication

that you hadn't worked your notice? Are you sure it's true? I'd

make sure of that first. You may not need to do anything with regard

to re-employment, whatever about your supervisor.

If it is true, in your position I'd write a calm, objective letter

to the management level above your supervisor explaining how it came

about that you didn't work the notice. In fact, I'd probably ask for

an interview with the appropriate person. Then I'd explain

everything but being cautious perhaps in how you express what you

want to say about your supervisor. You want to come over as very

cool and very reasonable, especially if the person concerned doesn't

know you. (I'm not saying you're NOT cool and reasonable, by the

way!!) Just make sure the person DOES know the facts and that you

did NOT intend to break any significant rules. It may, of course, be

the case that the management know of your supervisor's reputation

already; they should do as that's part of their job. I'm sure

they'll reassure you with regard to applying for another job. If

they're not already aware of your supervisor's people-management

skills, they need to know, don't they? Nevertheless, I know from

experience in my present job that people who come over as objective

and not too " angry " about a situation, ie. simply factual, are

generally taken more seriously. One risks being seen as over-

emotional otherwise. I know....I've been there.....on both sides of

the desk, as it were!!!

Good Heavens, how horribly schoolmarmy and preachy I sound. I ought

to delete all the above but I'll go to bed instead!! Anyway, I AM a

schoolmarm and leopards and schoolmarms don't change their spots!

Please forgive me.

We'll talk more about the TP. I'm sure is right but it can't

be easy to face, I know.

Speak soon, if you're still talking to me!!

With my love,

Fliss (UK)
