Guest guest
Hi all, My mini-road trip is over, and I'm home to relax and chill out for the holiday weekend. I wanted to thank , , and for all your advice about my sciatia inquiries. If I missed someone, I'm sorry, but I did consider everyone's comments. It was just an unrelated problem with the sciatic nerve, thank heavens, which the chiropractor was able to take good care of on Saturday morning. He hooked me up to the EMS for 15 minutes, and then did a thorough adjustment, even massaging all my toes individually....oh, bliss....feet and ankles to the point that I was feeling like jelly. He told me to go home and chill and heat it accordingly, which I did, and by Monday morning it was considerably settled down. There was a point of inflamation and swelling in the buttocks area by the hip joint, even that was gone by the time I climbed into the Jeep for my across-the-state trip. I had a cold pack at my lower back and two excited 12 year olds strapped in the back seat with Austin's game boy monitor. I soon wished I'd brought earplugs, since the boys were well behaved, if not a bit loud...or there were times when I wished for earphones for my radio! We made really good time on the trip, which was good because I'd stopped all my oral meds the night before and although the sciatia thing wasn't a problem, my pancreas pain WAS, without my oral meds, especially the Neurontin. I didn't realize how much of a catalyst that medication has been in making all the others work so well. So that part was a bit difficult, and as soon as we got to the hotel I climbed into bed with the heating pad on my abdomen, instead!! I returned the next day and then had to get up first thing in the morning and go up to ton to meet with the floral designer and my daughter to discuss all the floral arrangements, decorations, etc. for the reception and ceremony. I just got back last night, and checked the milage for the week's total....1,002 miles! I wanted to thank you all for the exercise suggestions. It turns out that I do aerobic type exercises in bed four days each week, lying flat on my back in the bed, and some of the leg stretching/strengthening exercises that I already do are the same as those you described....except that I do them with 8 pound weights on my ankles. So that part was just like what I normally do anyway, so I just increased my reps. Everything's feeling fine now....making me very grateful for just a freak exposure to sciatic problems....I don't think I could handle that type of problem for long at all! Thanks again for your comments and help. Think good thoughts, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep.
