Guest guest
Lucy, Actually, I go by Kimber. I'm sorry that the methadone didn't continue to help with the pain. Yes, I had heard about your injection in the spine. Nasty stuff. I know a little bit about Oxycotin. I know that it is the slow time release version of oxycodone, which I take for my breakthrough medication and that is not addicting unless you are taking it for recreational uses such as getting a high. So, I'm sure it's the same for the time release version. I do know that it is popular with drug addicts because if you crush it, you get all the medication at once instead of over time. This is VERY dangerous and easy for someone to OD. However, about it being addicting in general. According tomany medical studies they've done about ALL pain medications, they found out that people rarely end up addicted to pain medications if they take them solely for pain. They may become physically dependent (VERY different from addiction. Addiction requires a psychological dependence on the drug), but very rarely become addiction. Physical dependence is easily taken care of by slowly reducing the pain medication amount until the person is no longer taking the medication. Since you aren't psychologically craving the medication, you are unlikely to be addicted to it. I know how worrying it can be. I was very worried about addiction myself when I started taking pain medication. However, I worked with nurses everyday when I was still working and they all assured me that I had a very poor chance of becoming addicted to my pain medication. Also, my pain management class (a 10 week class required by my pain management clinic) carefully explained the difference between physical dependence and addiction. I am glad that your house is safe and that you didn't have to leave your house. I know how hard it can be to go on the computer when you are feeling sick, so don't be worried about not reading my email till now. I really hope you find a good doctor soon, one who listens to you and is willing to help you in any way he/she can. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
