Guest guest
It's so hard not being geographically close to my niece. I hate asking my sister too many questions because she is still so overwhelmed by all of this as was only diagnosed in September and since she had her 1st tune-up in October, they have only had to do the treatments on their own for a few weeks. It's a daunting task, as you all know. Plus, getting all the meds and the huge expense, finding the time to do it all and the list goes on and on. Anyway, I just found out yesterday that my niece has pseudomonas. I didn't know she had cultured for it. Hence, the TOBI treatments are starting. I do have a question, however. My sister is thinking of getting my niece up an extra 1/2 hr earlier to get the TOBI and vest treatments in. She said they need to be done around the same time tho they can't be done together. Does anyone know if this is correct? If she could just do the vest in the morning and do TOBI after school and at night it would be so much better. I hate to see her get up so early on a school day. It will make for a very long and extraordinarily tiring day. Also, does anyone know how far apart the treatments need to be? Actually, I don't even know when she does her pulmozyme. It surely is a juggling act. However, I know they'll all do fine once they get it all figured out. Sorry for the rambling. With caring, Jill
Guest guest
Pulmoyzme was recommended to be done in the morning - as it is a musous thinner and will bring up secretions throughout the day. We DO IT at night. Its impossible for us to do in the morning. The concern about at night is that the child will be coughing all night and won't benefit from pulmoyme as much. Forgive my spelling. I am taking lessons from MARION - just kidding......... Rosemary in NY with 3 children (13, 11 and 7) with CF. I have a dog named TOBI and have coined the phrase " BREATHE DAMMIT "

Guest guest
Hi! Congratulations on your weight loss! You've hit your first plateau and that's very normal. I found I'd hit plateaus almost once a month, with a quick drop of a few pounds immediately following. It's frustrating, but you need to realize that your body needs time to adjust to all this. Also, you should recognize that everyone loses weight at a different rate, even with gastric bypass surgery. If you are eating properly and exercising you are doing fine. Don't let all the weight loss ghosts that have haunted you in the past get you down again. Finally, your hair! It's pretty common to experience hair loss, usually at 4-9 months out of surgery. Make sure you're getting the proper amount of protein daily. I also starting taking Hair, Skin and Nails Supplement from GNC. It didn't really help with the hair loss, but my hairdresser thinks my hair grew back quicker than most she's seen. I also hoped this suppplement would help my skin respond better to the weight loss (ie: firmer, less sagging). Hope this helps. -------------- Original message -------------- I had surgery April 2, 2004 and so far I have lost 53 pounds. Am I right on schedule or should i have lost more? Guest guest
I had my surgery 5/27/04 and I have lost 32 lbs. It seems that you are right on track. I was 261 the day of surgery. I had problems eating this week and have already hit a plateau at about 4 weeks out and it lasted almost 3 weeks. Don't worry, concentrate on inches and staying on track! My hair has also been coming out and I worry because I am only 22. Eat lots of protein, drink lots of water, and try Nioxin shampoo or hair supplements.Hope this helps some!
