Orange Poop?

Help someone! written wednesday 8-30-06

My husband has Crohn's. We started easing into SCD by eating off the

legal list for about 6 months. 2 months ago we started with the intro

diet (after he came off Prednisone) and started intoducing foods

slowly. He had great improvement. After the first month or so, he

started having a harder time digesting fruits and veggies. I would

cook and puree them, but often they still came out the other side

intact. We even had to remove some foods we thought he was

tolerating. About a week ago he started having some D and mild pain.

He decided to go back and do the intro again to see if it would clear

up. We had also quit using some DCCC we found out was illegal

(Lifeway brand) thinking it would be good to clear the system. He

started the intro diet and a day later he started having orange poop.

He's had this orange poop for 4 days and today he had 3 bouts of

orange D. The only things different he was consuming were apple cider

and the Friendship brand DCCC. Everything else was stuff he was

eating before we restarted the intro diet. He also said the

applesauce wasn't quite all mush. Some of the chunks seemed a little

undercooked. He only had this applesauce for Tuesday's (yesterday)

breakfast and dinner. Is this die off or is something he's not

tolerating? What could be making the orange color (it is almost as

orange as the fruit)? I told him to ease off the apple cider and

applesauce. He restarted the Welch's today.

This week he's eaten:

Friendship DCCC

Yogurt (homemade)

Chicken broth (homemade)

Chicken (broiled and boiled)

Beef patties (broiled)

Jello made with apple cider

Tomato juice (mixed in with broth)

Applesauce (chunky)

Fish (broiled)

Honey

Salt and pepper

Eggs

Welch's grape juice (started today)

Apple cider

Coconut and olive oil

Carlson brand fish oil

Previous to redoing the intro he was doing:

Squash (butternut, acorn and zucchini)

More variety of spices

Limited amounts of cooked tomatoes

Pearsauce

Spinach (not sure if it was tolerated)

Meats (baked)

Cheese (on the eat-freely list)

We believe in taking as few pills as possible. Adam is still on

Asacol, though. I was wondering if taking an enzyme might help him.

Does anyone with Crohn's have experence with anything making the

digestion of foods easier?
