Yes, it needs to be ferom the refrigerated section, and contain nothing but

the apples. I don't know any brands to recommend. We went up to an orchard

in the NC mountains to pick apples, and brought home gallons of cider to put

in the deep freeze. If you have an orchard within a couple of hours, that

would be a fun family trip, and you could get good, local cider.

I think " pressed juice " is made with a twin gear juicer rather than a

centrifugal one. That way more of the enzymes and other properties are

protected.

You need wine yeast to ferment the juice for 3 - 4 weeks and then it

should be pasteurized I think?

I'm interested to know if I can make it too! the apple juice is legal,

just don't know about the wine yeast. Maybe SDC legal ACV is made

differently?

Interested to know the answer too. It's apple season here!

Anne.

Anne, you wrote:

Apple juice can be made at home with a centrifugal type juicer. We want to

strain out as much of the pulp and fiber as possible for SCD beginners.

I'm actually not quite sure what you're referring to here. Are you talking

about making apple cider VINEGAR? We don't need to ferment apple juice to make

it SCD legal. And we don't have to pasteurize homemade juice. Vinegar is

legal, but I don't know any SCDers who make their own.

The juicer should strain out all the peel and pulp.... so no, unless you know

the apples were sprayed and want to keep that out of your finished product.

Re: apple cider

Great! Also, do I need to peel the apples before juicing them?

Thanks,

Belle
