Guest guest
Okay everyone, I'm only doing one post today again to everyone. Sorry, just can't do too many. LOL Today has been another one of them days. LOL I think I flunked my vision field test. LOL had to have more blood tests. The have been doing chem panels, mono, ebstein barr, CBC's and I can't remember what else. LOL Today he added a sed rate, CK, and myoglobin. He put her on 20mg of pre then 15, 10, and 5 the next day. Today is the first day the she hasn't had a fever. A GOOD sign.. Always looking for good signs. Today her legs were in great pain and her back. Her color was better but she still couldn't eat and was so weak. I stocked her with juices, gator aide and some food that might sound good later. Just don't want her dehydrated. Every gland in her body is REALLY swollen. Like I said, she is looking better but not great. The dr is going to skip seeing her tomorrow and will see her on Monday. He admitted this is nothing she will get over easy. She was complaining of pain in the area of her spleen. But me not being a dr, he said it was her stomach and it was from the meds she's on. HA !! I beg to differ. Sounds like mono or something similar. He never did a liver function test even when I asked. Had to take to get medication, to her work to drop off a note, to the store, home for a minute and then to her house. She must be exhausted. It is also 110 her today so the heat is killing us. My leg is much better and I am thrilled about that. I received a special delivery from Stanford today regarding my surgery. They are so informative and have so many services for support to the family and the patient. I know I could not ask for better care. They have what they call " Praye Care Program " If you would like to participate, that is fine and if not that is fine too. They feel that this is an ancient method of healing and has been used by many religions to enhance well-being. They have done studies that it has a positive effect on health. With your permission the supply your name and dates of admission and dischargeand daily prayers for your well being, health and healing will be offered until the end of your stay. On the pamphlet it states " Prayer is not " better " then modern Medicine. Prayer, medications, and surgery--they are alla blessing, a grace, a gift. Why not use all of them with reverence and gratitued? " They also offer Surgery Preparation/ Relaxation Materials. They will sen a book on preparing for surgery as well as an accompanying relaxation tape. They also have Instruction in Relaxation & STress Management (think we all need that one LOL) and a 24 hour number to get advise or answer any questions. The book they sent me today explains the surgery and what the 6 hour pre op will entail. After surgery I will be in ICU for 24-48 hours and then transfered to a Post ICU unit. I will have dieticians, respiratory therapists a private nurse. There is a great support system for the family too. It says I will gain from 4-10 pounds (just what I need) from the heart and lung machine so they will restrict my fluids and give me diuretics.. They said i would be puffy (gee what else is new??? I'm use to that> LOL) On discharge I will be given an education packet for after care, a medication schedule explaing when and how I should take all my meds, a consultation for me and my family witha dietitian and cardiac rehab programs....all at no extra charge!!! Boy I think they must have added it in the initial cost. LOL I don't think I could be in better hands. I will spring right back, you just watch. I didn't mean to ramble, just wanted to get it all in.. I'm headed for bed at a somewhat decent hour tonight. I don't think I have anything to do tomorrow, so I think I'll get back to painting or sleeping. I'll decide tomorrow. So..... now it is almost time to cook dinner and then I'm gonna go for a swim. Thank you all for your concern, thoughts and prayers concerning my family. They are all deeply appreciated and I promise that we are done for this year. LOL hugs
