Guest guest
Dear friends, My schedule has been pretty full these last several days and I've been soooo fortunate that my health has been great, too, to keep up with it. It's been several days since I've even needed any BT meds, except briefly yesterday, so this has been a welcome reprieve and such a pleasant change. I know it won't last, but I'm doing my best to enjoy it while it's here. I met yesterday with my PM doctor. We reviewed the new meds and the increase in the duragesic patch that I'm on. He's taken me off the morphine IRS after I told him it just wasn't helping enough with my breakthrough pain. Instead, he's put me on Neuronitin daily this week, then twice daily in seven days, and prescribed me Oxycodone for breakthrough. I wasn't impressed with the Oxycodone last month when I tried it in unison with the Oxycontin, but the doctor says that he feels it will work now in conjunction with the Neuronitin and duragesic, and said that it was stronger than the morphine I'd been using earlier. I did have a brief flare after returning from an afternoon doing the doctor business yesterday, so I took the Oxycodone and it worked just fine. It seems that we're on the right track now with getting suitable pain coverage (knock on wood). He also ordered an x-ray of my spine, which I did right after seeing him. I'm not sure exactly what the doctor is looking for, he said he wanted to see this after examining me on my first visit last month. I had it done there at the clinic and was pretty unnerved by the actions of the two technician's who did the x- ray. They spent an inordinate amount of time checking and rechecking my films, taking a few of them over again, and whispering and shaking their heads about something they were seeing, and then turning and looking at me over and over again. It was very unnerving and made me really curious to know what all the fuss was about. My next appointment isn't until 4 weeks from now, so I would hope that the doctor would call me if he found anything unusual. I also have an appointment sometime in the next week or two with a surgeon to look at the lyphoma that's underneath my left shoulderblade. My chiropractor found it and told me it needed to be checked and probably biopsied and/or removed, so my GI said he would get an appointment with the surgeon to take a look at that, I just don't know what the date of the appointment is, yet. I don't know if this is what the x-ray techs could have seen yesterday, as I don't know whether something like that shows up on an x-ray. My daughter and her fiance were here visiting for the weekend and we all did some wedding shopping. spent the day in Hilton Head looking for the black suit he plans to wear at the wedding, while and I went to the wedding boutique where I'd made an appointment for her to look at dresses. We had a great time of it, she narrowed down her search to 8 different dresses at this marvelous upscale boutique, and ended up only trying on 6 before we found the perfect 2. Getting the selection down to only 2 is quite a feat with my .....she loves to shop and is an excellent judge of nice clothing, but she's terrible when it comes to making that final decision. She's very tall and has a well proportioned figure and was a perfect fit for the size 10 gowns that most boutiques carry. Since all the dresses looked so good on her, it was very difficult for her to make up her mind....she loved them all! I took pictures of each and we told the shop owner that we'd have an answer for them by Monday. The final two choices were both made by Pronovias, I preferred one over the other, yet was leaning toward the one that was my second choice. Then my digital camera ran out of battery while we were finishing up, so Lindy couldn't even look at the pictures to help make up her mind! I brought it home with me and she and left to go back to ton. That night, my husband fixed the camera and downloaded the pictures I'd taken at the shop. He was looking through all the pictures of the 6 different dresses on Lindy, and when he came up to my choice, he slowed down and spent a few more minutes looking at that one before continuing on. When he finished he flashed back through the photos and stopped at that one and said " I hope this is the one she chose, she looks so beautiful in it " . Well, that clinched it!!! When Lindy called to tell me she'd gotten back to ton okay, I told her what Bob had said, and she said, " then that's the one I want " . So I ordered it today! It's a beautiful strapless white silk gown, ruched above the right side waistline with delicate beadwork in the ruched folds, with a moderate (4-5') length train and tiny covered buttons all the way down the back to the end of the train. I spent the day today addressing the fronts and backs of the Save the Date envelopes for the out of town guests....so after finishing 125 of those my fingers are tired and my eyes are crossed, but they're done and ready to be mailed. We're making good progress...finally. So now you know what's been keeping me so quiet these past days. I haven't forgotten about you all, I just have to check on what's been happening at odd hours of the day.....or night (LOL!) I'm off to bed now, and hope y'all have a good day, painfree as possible, tomorrow...er, I mean, today! With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep.
