My daughter is 7 months old and has Plagio. From the front she looks

fine, You could never tell. Her ears are alined, her eyes are fine,

but her forehead does stick out a bit on the right side. It is

definitely noticable from the back. I have asked 2 pediatricians and

both said that over time she will be fine and as she gets more mobile

her head will round out. Well I just saw a ton of pitures of older

kids with Plagio and that wasn't the case. Basically it scared the

S**T out of me and now I feel to be a good Mom I have to do something.

My question is has anyone on this borad done only CST no Helmet and if

so how was the results? I don't want to puther through the Helmet. I

keep reading how horrible it seems for them. The read marks, no sleep,

etc. Isn't it bad enough I have to take her to the doctor practically

ever month to get a million shots now I have to torture her with this

too. My last result will be the helmet. (And yes, I know I need to

hurry! I am calling first thing Monday to try to get into to see some

specialist for x-rays and more opinions)

Please help!

FWIW, my two are totally not bothered by their helmets, it's not caused

them any difficulties with sleeping or anything, and the only red marks

we had went away after our first adjustment at one week. Pretty much

been a total piece of cake so far. I suspect having them properly fitted

by someone who knows what they're doing makes a huge difference, and

some babies are more likely to be sensitive than others, but the

experience is not in any way guaranteed to be horrible.

My son got his starband last Tuesday and has adjusted great to it. We havent had any red spots yet *knock knock* and he is sleeping in it great. Just a little background Dylan will be 1 yr. on the 10th has never liked hats (wouldnt scream his head off but would pull them off right away). He also has mild eczema/sensitive skin. He's always been a fairly happy baby and he hasnt changed so far. Babys adjust and it's only for a few months. A small price I think to get correction. -jesr> I don't want to puther through the Helmet. I > keep reading how horrible it seems for them. I am glad to hear that your son is adjusting. I just spoke with a

family friend who is using the STAR band as well and she said the 5

day schedule they gave out helped to slowly get her used to it. We

are definitely going to look into the helmet. I just want to do

everything I can for her. Yall know how that is.

She too has eczema, pretty bad actually and on her head often. I am

curious to see how we are going to work this out too. It gets very

flaky and red we have to treat it with hydrocortizone every couple

of days when she gets a flare up. She is bald so there is no grease

from her hair to keep the moisture in. We are constantantly lubbing

her down with baby oils, and lotions. But this is a whole other

issue and I guess a different group too.

Thanks for the comments, It is helping me get more comfortable with

putting her through this.

My son also has eczema pretty bad. What we did was washed his head every morning and evening with just water so that his head didn't get too dried out from the soap (his head never smelled the greatest but the sweat got wiped off anyways) and then gave him a full bath with soap every 2-3 days. He actually did really well and didn't have as many breakouts as I had anticipated. I used Aveeno lotion on his head after we wiped him down and let that dry before we put the helmet back on. Hope this helps

Hi--

We also had to figure something out with the helmet and a sensitive

dry scalp (and no hair!). Our LO had cradles cap pretty bad and so we

kept oil on his head..until we couldn't with the band. So we got into

a routine that seemed to work. In the evening, for our one hour break

from the band, we would take the band off and immediatly put oil on

his head. I then scrubbed his helmet with alcohol and left it to dry

under a fan. Then it was time for a bath, and while in the bath I

would place a wet warm towel or washcloth on his head to give him my

version of a hot oil treatment. Then we would shampoo to remove the

excess oil and helmet stink.

Hope this helps,

H.

My son is 8 months old and has been wearing his helmet for 1 month. He adjusted beautifully to life with the helmet. At first he didn't really like it when I took it on and off, but after a few days, I got the knack and he got over it! He has minimal to no red marks when I remove it and he sleeps well through the night. I was very scared before we started. I felt guilt and sadness about "putting him through it." However I realize now that I was much more anxious and upset than my son would ever be. I am glad we went forward with the helmet because after a few months, it will all be over and we will have impacted his life in a great way. I totally feel for you. But if you wait too long, you won't have the opportunity to improve the shape of your daughter's head. And by the way, my pediatrician also

assured us for months that our son's head would get better on its own - but there was no improvement. I think some doctors are just kind of conservative. If you have any further questions about my experience, please don't hesitate to ask.
