Guest guest
My son will be having his third adjustment with CT on monday and I am having these exact same feelings! I had to ask them for his starting measurements. But they havent rescanned or measured him since we started either. And I do think its weird that they just come in, eye his head up, take the helmet away to shave foam out and then plop it back on his head and tell me to come back in two weeks. Ive been wondering how this can be accurate too.... looking forward to hearing the responses from others. - Cole has been in his DOCband since 12/1/08From: bu1l2006 <pj13326@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Saturday, January 3, 2009 12:30:26 PMSubject: Doc Band adjustments and measurements question Hello, My daughter has been in her DocBand for about 3 weeks and is seeing some improvement in her brachy. Hurray! My question is this--does CT ever re-scan their heads during treatment to make sure that they are growing symmetrically? Also, does CT ever give out traditional plagio measurements like you get with the StarBand scanner report-- e.g. 95% brachy, 10mm, etc. I would assume that the DSi computer generated head program would be able to calculate these numbers but I have never been offered any measurements by CT. It seems like a pretty inaccurate process each week when the ortho looks at the head (which in my daughter's case is covered by hair sticking out every which way) and sort of, as far as I can tell, guesses where to make more room for growth. As it stands now, it appears to me that my daughter's head is growing more where more room has been made in the back on one side, but now the other side is being left behind. Is there a method to this?? I guess I thought the process would be a little more precise and that she'd be rescanned with some regularity to make sure everything is on track. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar experience. Thank you! PJ
Guest guest
I've also had the same concerns, especially after being fed a bunch of lies from Eastern Cranial Affiliates about the progress my daughter was making in the helmet made by Joe Terpenning. He scanned her head every months and every time told us that she was making progress but in fact she was growing on the sides as well (she mainly has brachy). When I finally and luckily switched to CT and the DOC band, I just had to trust their reputation and work ethics. Her progress is much more noticeable now despite the fact that she is older and that she's spent less time in the second band than the first helmet. This said, I am taking her to Starcranial on Monday to get scanned again (3rd scan) to get MORE accurate measurements and to compare them with the previous measurements they took of her. I am a bit paranoid, I have to admit, but I don't want to regret a thing any more. I wish that CT used a scanner like that of Orthomerica. They do take progress pictures but hair growth and the angles are quite tricky. I am not complaining about CT, not one bit. At least I have the option of taking her for accurate measurements elsewhere.
