Guest guest
We were referred to Cranial Technologies for a Doc Band and they deemed treatment neccessary. However, our insurance will only cover a portion of the Doc Band. Our Insurance does cover the Hanger Cranial Band. Has anyone used this type of band? Are there any differences? Guest guest
I was in the exact same situation. I did choose to go with Hanger so that insurance would cover it. I like the ortho at both places equally. There are very slight differences in the apearance but not that much. It was explained to me that both the Doc band and Hanger band are both FDA class 2 devices, therefore, they must be manufactured the same exact way. My son has been in his Hanger band for almost 8 weeks and he should graduate this Monday. It has been a very easy experience and we have seen amazing results! Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hello. We used Hanger and had a wonderful experience. With ANY band you use, the key to getting great treatment is the person treating your child and working with the band. The Hanger Band covers more of the head (it has more of a " helmet " look to it) that the DOC, but both bands work on the same priciples and can have the same results, as long as the Orthotist is experienced. I would go to your local Hanger and talk to the Ortho that would be treaing your child. See which place YOU feel more comfortable with and make sure that the Hanger Ortho has experience. There have been instances where people got the DOC band covered (in part or in full), by appealing when Ins didn't cover it. So, if you are not comfortable with the Hanger person, or if they don't have enough experience, then you always have that option too. Good luck with your decision. Guest guest
We had a hanger band. Knowing what I know now I wish I had gone with CT. My dd did get some correction - but i think she may have had more with DOC. If you do a search thru old messages for hanger - you will see what others have had to say. Hanger can be hit and miss with the fabrication of the band, the training of the orthos and the results. Feel free to email me with any questions. Guest guest
The biggest difference I've seen is in the orthos. CT maintains consistent training with all the orthos that work with the DOC band, while Hanger doesn't. So if someone has a bad experience with an ineffective/ill-fitting band it's due to the ortho, and since Hanger isn't as consistent in training, more people have issues with that band. Guest guest
I agree with the prior poster. We had a Hanger band and were happy with the results - but our Ortho was awesome. From what I understand it's hit or miss.... > > > We were referred to Cranial Technologies for a Doc Band and they deemed > > treatment neccessary.
