Guest guest
Thanks n! How are the results of the medicine for you? But some compounding phamarcies don't offer that. I specifically started ordering from Irmat Pharmacy in NY City because they do. And they're pretty reasonably priced. Not quite a well-priced as Skip's; but Skip's doesn't offer acidophilus as a filler. Avicel is ok too (it's cellulose); but I prefer the acidophilus, since we need acidophilus in any case.n -- ______________________________A funny, touching gift book for cat lovers. Guest guest
Or you could get it as a cream - that's recommended for Crohn'speople, especially those who have problems with absorption. In that case, get it from coastalcompounding.com. They havethe emu oil formulation developed by Dr. McCandless. That's theone I still use - although lack of absorption is not an issue for me. MaraThanks n! Guest guest
I have unresolved issues over 1.5mg right now. Maybe I can up the dose later I just need to stay at this level for awhile. I wondered if it lost anything going from cream form to pill form at the same doseage. For instance, I recently had to stop it for a few days. I started having the nightly nighmares and other problems. Stiffness--started again last night at a lower dose and dreamed. Has to be at least 1.5mg. The new prescription came as a clear runny gel that's got very small bits in it--kind of like unmixed gelatin? The first one was cream. Both said emu oil, etc. Just difference mix. Anyone else's emu oil like this? Debbie 41 cd > Has anyone switched from topical to pill form and noticeda difference? Guest guest
Debbie--I would call your pharmacy because it sounds like the LDN came out of it's emulsion with the emu oil. A cream is not supposed to be runny. Perhaps it was exposed to heat in transit if you have it mailed to you. If you have no absorption issues, the pill would be easier and more accurate dosing. Skin absorption can be variable, as well as the amount of cream can have variable dose if the medicine is not evenly distributed through the cream. It can be a minor issue, but if you need such a small dose, perhaps a capsule would be better for you. (I was a pharmacist in another life) If you're not having severe diarrhea and you are digesting your food fairly well--you probably could take the capsule. , Avicel is a patented microcrystalline cellulose similar to what is in plant matrices. To my knowledge it does not contain mannitol. If the pharmacy adds mannitol, that is another story. Avicel is legal and fine for us to use--sucrose is not. Usually the compounding pharmacies we use know not to use mannitol or sucrose, but it wouldn't hurt to make that clear and ask them to include that on your pharmacy record that you cannot have any sugar fillers. Guest guest
I took the pill form at first and thought maybe I woud try the cream to see if I got quicker results. I didn't like the cream, I had no effects at all from it. I went back to the pill after being on the cream for a couple months and the sleeplessness at night and energy during the day came back. Right then I knew the pill worked better for me. I did have it compounded at Coastal Compounding. Some with Crohn's recommend the cream but the pill works MUCH better for me. > > Has anyone switched from topical to pill form and noticeda difference? Guest guest
Omg, ok so I'm sensitive to a lot of things. Extreme lethargy if I go over 1.5mg. I did ten days of diflucan and now I'm doing 30 days. You know, I'll tell you a huge secret but you can't tell anyone. I started speaking oddly. I'll use a song title to demonstrate. Unthought Known. That's what I kept doing and it worried me. I felt a little out of sorts. Debbie is very sensitive to a lot of things. I stopped because of a gynecological procedure that I was going to have a block for pain and I wanted to make sure I had a nice, full block there. Mara...I didn't run out, I actually ran over due to not going to 4.5mg and staying. Why did you have to stop it? Did you run out? Where is the second one from? Same as the first? Same pharmacy. My doctor spoke to a local pharmacist for a 90-day supply because for some reason he had issues only talking to me. I can get it compounded locally now. The pharmacist here was 'extremely' hesitant about treating someone with Crohn's with this so I asked him to speak to the doc. (Won't even go into he's the pharmacist not the doc...) but maybe it'll be cheaper. It doesn't sound right - mine have always been exactly the same. You shouldcall them up and ask. mara I will call them but since it ran over, I've only used this bottle a few times because it sat unopened. It doesn't feel the same but maybe I just need to shake it up a lot. I like the oil more.
