Guest guest
I should clarify too. I don't have UC or IBD. I was told by one of my gastros that I have IBS, but I'm still not convinced that's the problem. The main issue I'm dealing with is really bad anal leakage. I have abdominal problems and some slight constipation and diarehaa, but that I can handle. What I can't handle is the constant leakage of liquid and mucous. I go through several pairs of underwear a day, and I can't even think about leaving the house for more than a half hour without having huge underwear stains. Is there anyone out there with this particular symptom? > > I have been on the diet for about a week now and haven't seen any difference in my symptoms. It's the same as when I was eating whatever I wanted. I know these changes are not immediate, but how am I supposed to know whether or not any new foods I introduce are bad, when my symptoms in general have not improved? > > As it is right now, I've cut out the eggs and the carrots from the intro as suggested. I've eaten pretty much nothing but chicken and steamed zucchini for the last five days. I want to start introducing some more things but don't know what a " bad reaction " should consist of if I'm still on the toilet five hours a day with severe leakage. >
Guest guest
Could you be impacted? This happens with kids with encopresis. They are actually so blocked up that liquid stool leaks around the blockage and they have " accidents " . Before they respond to any dietary treatment, they have to be " cleaned out " with enemas. I would not recommend you do this unless you knew for sure, but if you are blocked up with constipation you can " leak " around it. Guest guest
For that level of mucous, you should seriously consider eliminating all dairy. Not eating any of it - including the SCD legal stuff. That level of mucous is a sign of an ongoing inflammatory response and milk exacerbates all that. You need to be making broths for yourself - bone broths cooked 12-24 hours so that they gelatinize. They are soothing for inflammation and help to repair the gut lining. And you should take probiotics. I would try acidophilus and s. boulardii as well. Have you done the yeast spit test? Guest guest
Joe,My husband didn't have the constant leakage in the same way, he had VERY urgent BMs and if he didn't get to a toilet immediately, he would have a problem. He also had some drainage for a while after having a seton stitch put in place (to help a fistula). With that, he would tape a gauze pad over the opening and changed it several times a day. Have you thought about trying adult pads like Depends? It might at least alleviate the stains on your clothes and allow you to go out for awhile. It isn't ideal, but it will maybe allow some sense of normalcy until you heal more and give yourself time to see progress.AmeliaTo: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sat, May 29, 2010 11:01:58 PMSubject: Re: What to expect when introducing foods?
