Guest guest
Day 8 is a little early. There is no real time frame- it's as tolerated. In general, people tolerate nut butters first- before nut flour, and you can bake with those. Pecan butter--- then flour is the easiest to tolerate for most. There are some nice recipes on pecanbread.com. Use small amounts. The tendency is to gobble down these treats. I was on SCD 6 months before tolerating nut flours and still I eat them rarely. I tolerated nut butters almost at the get go. Note this site is for kids with ASD and is non dairy. We " grown ups with yukky guts " can have SCD legal 24 hr yogurt and legal cheeses. The best approach to SCD is SLOW and steady. Better to wait than go to fast and backtrack... Guest guest
thanks for the feedback. how did you know you couldn't tolerate the flour until 6 months? how many times did you try to reintroduce after the initial introduction? when did you first try? i know im not ready yet, but definitely looking forward to some baked goods in addition to my chicken and veggies. > > > > i am new to scd and curious about the introduction of almond flour. elaine said when things get better gradually introduce items which contain the flour such as muffins which have been frozen with meals. pecanbread says introduce in stage 3 although there are no time tables because everyone is different. > > > > i have notice a substantial decrease in stomach pain, bathroom visits and diarrhea since beginning scd (now on day 8) but do not want to go " too fast " and mess things up. > > > > what should i be targeting as a timeframe to introduce almond flour? > > >

It all depends on how quickly you heal -- which is rarely fast enough for anyone. Most people find they can introduce things made with nut butter before they can nut flour because the nuts are ground finer in the nut butter. Most SCD recipes will call for nut flour -- you can substitute homemade nut butter (cheaper to make your own!) in the same amount as the nut flour recommended. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
