Guest guest
Yann, Thanks for the photoes. I have open bite too and began wondering and maybe even worrying a bit about how my face will change after surgery. I just don't want too much change. My bite is not so open in the front but open more in the back as well. (Currently only right side touches) How long after ortho work began did they tale that photo? I am now 3 months into braces. Your bite looks wonderful by the way. I so envy you right now. Looking at your profile pictures I feel much better now about appearance change although in the past this was not an issue and truly the surgery is for functional reasons. I jsu wanted to say thanks. Guest guest
Hey Karola - I took the " before " photos myself at 4am, right before driving out for the morning surgery. I had had braces for 11 months that day. Surgery is normally scheduled when your teeth have stopped moving. Knowing this, I followed my ortho's instructions to the letter to make sure not to delay anything. I took the " after " photos 5 weeks post-op, immediately after my splint was removed, when I could finally see my teeth again. I'm told I'll be wearing braces for another 6 months minimum. My back teeth don't touch yet, but that was apparently intentional. They modeled a certain amount of relapse into the equation, so it'll actually help with that and the braces will do the rest. Aside from my new fear of tooth decay from the splint, I've never been this happy about spending so much money! If I suddenly found myself 15 years in the past, I would choose surgery in a heartbeat. Guest guest
Yann, You look great ... and your bite looks great! I'm hoping to get brave enough to post some of my own pics in the future (I've got a bunch to choose from) in the hopes they may inspire/help someone else ... like yours did for me. Thanks for sharing! Carol > FYI, I posted a " before and after " photo of my bite..
