Guest guest
Hey i have a question about the catheter thing if a girl were to be on her period. I know this is really personal and probably not something all the guys out there wanna hear about. But im gonna be on mine when i have my surgery beginning of next month and was wondering if anybody else has had to go through that oh so wonderful experience and have surgery at the same time. I mean im gonna be layin down for a very long time so how do i deal with that kinda thing?
Guest guest
Excellent question - I'm very pre-op (sometime next summer) and I hope the stress of having surgery will cause me to skip a month - I think that would be a blessing. I wonder if they'd let you wear " internal protection " during the surgery? That would be a good question to ask your surgeon's nurses, as I'm sure it's been asked before. / Diane --- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " babybuc2006 " <babybuc1211@h...> wrote: > Hey i have a question about the catheter thing if a girl were to be on > her period. Guest guest
Nurses just deal with it no worries. You can tell them ahead of time, but it happens and they are very professional about it all. Guest guest
Mmmmmm.... it seems to me that this is a question best answered by the nurses during your pre-admission testing. I know I got asked quite a few times when I'd last had my period. In my case I was on the pill and had timed everything so that I would get my period about 12 days pre-op and would be able to stop taking the pill for 2 months post-op. I'm sure the nurses will have some sort of method to deal with this issue and I don't imagine getting the catherer in will be any more complicated. If anything, it will be all the more necessary since you won't be able to go and change yourself regularly. Apologies to all the guys who have to read this but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do! Sara > > Hey i have a question about the catheter thing if a girl were to be > on > > her period. Guest guest
Hi All - I had an experience with this topic myself. I had surgery 2 yrs ago, and low and behold my period came about 6 days early. I was told that this happens sometimes when the body has a shock or trauma - cycles get out of whack. The nurses on the floor were great about this (keep in mind they deal with this stuff ALL the time). I don't know about being " prepared ahead of time " - but again talk to the nurses, they'll tell you what's allowed. Sorry again to the guys. ;-) -Cyndy Sara > > Hey i have a question about the catheter thing if a girl were to be > on > > her period. Guest guest
I was concerned that my period was going to come early - right around surgery time - due to all the stress and anxiety I was dealing with. So, I mentioned that possibility to the OR Nurse. She was sweet and comforting and took it in stride. She knew what I was going to say before I said it. Not to worry ... they deal with that sort of thing all the time and know how to handle it. If you happen to have your period for your surgery - it won't make any difference regarding the catheter ... or the procedure/recovery. Take care, Carol > Hey i have a question about the catheter thing if a girl were to be on > her period.
