Hey, Sara - Your pictures look great - can't wait to see more as your

recovery progresses. Your chin, nose and lips look really good! You

must be so-o pleased with the results! Do you have any numbness? Your

face doesn't look swollen at all in your post-op pictures - your

surgeon did a good job! / Diane

Hi Diane

Thanks for your encouraging words, it always helps to hear these:-)

Well I am happy to say that I have been up for two hours today and

already feel miles better than I did yesterday and it's only 3 days

post-op. My surgeon is amazed by how little swelling I have. I will try

to post another photo today to show that my nose swelling has actually

gone down as well. In terms of numbness it's not as bad as I expected

but I'm definitely numb from underneath my eye sockets to the the

bottom of my chin, where my neck starts. In some parts I'm really

tender and it hurts to press too hard but I can already feel that I am

getting sensation back which is great! What I have been doing is gentle

massages across my nose, chin and cheeks to help build back sensation.

My surgeon who redid my nose 10 years ago, Dr. Millard (who also

happens to be the man who invented the cleft palate operation) taught

me to do these gentle massages by just lightly pressing my fingers

across the numb area, gentle patting with your fingertips does the

trick, like you would on the area underneath your eyelid or above your

eye when it's swollen. Hope this helps and don't hesitate to ask me any

more questions!
