Guest guest
2 weeks is way too soon to have all these foods. It is best to advance slowly. The stages on pecanbread.com are a good guide. Keep in mind that it is a guide for kids with ASD and is non dairy. We can have butter, SCD yogurt, and legal cheeses. Nut flours are more advanced. I think you would notice a positive change if you backed up and followed a slower course. PJ > > So far I have been on the diet for 2 weeks. I did the intro diet for 5 days. Now I have been eating a variety of vegetables, fruits, meats, and SCD baked goods. Is there a limit to how much honey and almond flour one should consume this early in the diet? (i havent seen an improvement in stool since the intro diet) > > Thanks! > > >
Guest guest
, it sounds like you are moving way too fast in the diet. That was my problem at first too. 2 weeks into the diet, I was still just trying to eat the veggies from the chicken soup. You should try one new food at a time. Nuts are advanced and should be tried later. 2 years and almost 6 months into the diet, I can't handle much nut butter or nut flour. You should try one new food at a time, peeled, deseeded and well cooked. Wait at least three days before trying anything new. This way you can find out what foods set off your symptoms. For me it is broccoli, too much almond butter/flour, kidney beans, peanuts, and so on. The first year on the diet, I rotated about 12 foods. Good luck, Misty Kimble CD - no meds SCD - 2 + years > > So far I have been on the diet for 2 weeks. I did the intro diet for 5 days. Guest guest
I would cut out the baked goods and see how things are. If you still aren't seeing any improvement in your BMs then go back to an earlier stage. If you feel okay and like the diet is helping, you probably don't need to panic too much. When I first started on the diet, I missed the fact that there's an intro diet to follow and started with plenty of almond flour goodies; I think it slowed down the healing but I don't think it did any real harm in the long run. fiona > > > > , it sounds like you are moving way too fast in the diet. Guest guest
I like Fiona's advice. I started the diet a month ago, and am eating a wide variety of stuff (all SCD legal). Living out on a remote ranch, well, I don't have access to the all the early stage foods - I have to drive 3 hours round trip for zuchinni or butternut squash. So I do what I can, and end up eating locally grown fruits & veggies that are more advanced. Anyhow. I am feeling so much better every day. Bloating is gone (I used to feel like I was 11 months pregnant!), painful cramping is gone, no more muscle/joint aches like before, brain fog went away, and I sleep so much better. I figure I didn't get sick over night, so I can't expect to be totally healed over night. I realize the way I am doing things won't work for everyone, but I don't think my gut was as damaged as a lot of folks. I was gluten free & dairy free for 2.5 years, and had recently gone processed sugar free & soy free before finding SCD. So glad to have found SCD though, it's just what I needed! Good luck ! > > > > > > So far I have been on the diet for 2 weeks. I did the intro diet for 5 days. Now I have been eating a variety of vegetables, fruits, meats, and SCD baked goods.
