Guest guest
Dee, $45k? Holy cow. That's some expensive surgery. My surgeon, Dr. West in Seattle, gave me two estimates (for lower adv.): the regular one at about $11,000, and a self-pay estimate at about $6,000. My impression is not that it's a discount for people without insurance, but a discount for paying in advance -- and handling insurance billing myself. Saves them the time and hassle of paperwork, insurance billing, etc. I'm nervous about billing insurance -- the surgeon's office told me they pay more if the surgeon bills them than if I bill them, and that they always put up a fight. But for $4,000, I'm willing to work for it. Good luck! Luna

Guest guest
Luna, No, I wish they would give you a discount if you pay it off early. The good thing with this credit card is that it doesn't tie up your regular credit card. Also, it gives the insurance time to reimburse you so you can apply it towards your payment due. I would also imagine that it is easier to get approved for since it is for medical purposes. > , thank you for the good suggestion! I just googled Care Credit > and found their website (http://www.carecredit.com/). I will > definitely look into it. Do you get a discount for paying the full > amount up front? You should. Good luck and thanks again! Luna
