Guest guest
Dammit! After 3 rounds of braces and 3 rounds of surgery I'll be damned if my teeth/bite have any excuse to relapse again (it was already starting to go back again slightly). I'm so upset right now. I don't come on here often anymore but for those who have stayed that remember me....just needed to vent. Oh well, guess I'm off to the ortho before work tomorrow. Wish me luck! I hope this isn't too costly or too much of a big deal. I haven't skipped a night of wearing them and I have a terrible fear of them being too tight by the time they get back to me. And if they have to make another mold....well... my teeth aren't exactly as they were straight out of braces.
Guest guest
Hi Netalee! Nice to see you again, sorry about the retainer! Adult teeth do tend to move when they aren't fixed in place, that's true, but I'm sure your ortho can nudge things if necessary. Don't settle for less if that's what you want. Have you considered a fixed wire retainer? That's what I have (upper and lower), and my teeth haven't budged. They are a bit more troublesome to clean, but it's a fair tradeoff for me. Best wishes, > > Dammit! After 3 rounds of braces and 3 rounds of surgery I'll be > damned if my teeth/bite have any excuse to relapse again (it was > already starting to go back again slightly). Guest guest
Hi Netalee, Sure I remember you and I understand exactly how you feel and how upset you must be. Everytime I thought things had finally stabilized my bite would fall apart again. Now I'm tentatively scheduled for surgery #6, bilateral joint replacement, on June 29. I say tentatively because it's already been delayed twice and I don't want to be disappointed again, I just want it over with. I really hope you were reassured by your ortho this morning and things can be easily fixed or stabilized with your retainers. Let us know what you found out this morning. I hope it's good news. > > Dammit! Guest guest
Thanks, I've calmed down about it since I last posted. I had to wait until this morning to see the ortho again and basically they can't fix it so I had to get a new one made. $300 Oh well, I guess it could be worse...I can't imagine SIX!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!! HOLY CRAP! Good luck with that! > > > > Dammit! Guest guest
Yes I have asked about the permanent retainer but they say that I need the regular kind to support my palate since it is normally really narrow and was widened...they don't want it to " collapse " back. Honestly, they choose the weirdest words to scare me with! HA > > > > Dammit! Guest guest
Makes sense. You're lucky to have the freedom of a removeable retainer, makes flossing a breeze, doesn't it? I suppose they figure you've been through enough that they can't scare you anymore, though. > > > > > > Dammit!
