Just wanted to thank everyone for their support. The whole surgery

experience hasn't been as bad as I expected it to be. I'm only 3 days

post-op but I haven't had to take any pain medicine yet and the

numbness isn't really bothering me too much. I did have a question

about sleeping however. My doctor says that I can sleep normally if I

want but I heard it's better to sleep with your head tilted at an

angle. Can anyone give me an advice on that? Once again thanks

everyone for their support and I hope to be able to provide good advice

on this site in the future.

I slpet practically sitting up for the first 2 weeks. I was just

worried about putting too much pressure on my face if I laid on my

side. My OS said it was fine to sleep normal after about a week, but

I just wasn't comfortable with it.

Jae,

I've also been sleeping upright since day one of the surgery. I find

it's helped keep the swelling down. I alternate between between being

sat up very straight and being sat up slightly lower which makes

falling asleep easier. At the moment I'm going to give myself at

least a week of sleeping like this before I even consider sleeping

flat.

Glad to hear you're in such high spirits post-op. It really is a lot

less worse than one would expect.

Jae,

Yes I am going off my painkillers today, I find they are causing me

more grief and cause I know I won't be in much pain...the nerves are

blocked up is how it was explained to me...

I heard it's better to sleep with your head tilted at an

angle. Can anyone give me an advice on that?

=I made my own u-shaped pillow, you can do the same roll a towel

lengthwise and put it under your pillows you don't need to sit up just

have elevation and drainage.

Sara & Jae,

I slept sitting up for the first two weeks ... then finally got off

the couch and into bed and got flat - well, as flat as I could be

with three pillows under my head. I began to be able to lay on my

side about a week ago. Gravity really does do its thing while you

are sleeping. :) Anyway, two nights ago I woke up on my stomach!

That's how I used to sleep all the time, but I hadn't since surgery.

Well, there I was waking up ... and I had rolled over! I was really

puffy all day ... but it was the first night that I slept all

night ... in 5 weeks. :) So, that was nice.

Just my two cents,

Carol
