I went home a couple of hours after I woke up. It was done on a Thursday and I went back to work on Monday. I went to church and taught Sunday School as usual on Sunday. I did nap all afternoon though! I guess my question would be : what does " in the office " mean? Does he have a surgical suite in the office? Would you be put under with an anesthesiologist present? How many of these has he done? Can you talk to some people who have had it done that way? (That is several questions, huh?) I don't think you should categorically exclude this surgeon, but I do think you need more information. hugs, Ann
Guest guest
Sue, . I'm having my breast lift on the 23rd. I am not having my cup size reduced as I am happy with a C cup. I just can't stand them hanging to my belly button. There was a movie on the other night about the inventor of breast implants. There was a part where one woman was showing that she could hold a pencil under her breast. It should drop to the floor according to her. I looked at my hubby and said I could hold a dang roll of paper towels under mine. We got a good laugh out of it...knowing it will be better. Anyway, I don't know if anyone remembers but I had a full abdominplasty Feb 17th. I have quite a lot still hanging. I have been fighting with the hospital that approves the revision. The system is different here in Denmark. The hospital approves or disapproves. The waiting list can be up to two years. They have changed the system about two years ago. If they can't get you in within 2 months, they have to send you to a private hospital. I went back to my original PS to see what she said about a revision before I went for approval. Only 900 grams were taken. She admitted that she was not familiar with someone who lost 128lbs. She suggested more than once that I find another surgeon. Well I went for my breast lift approval and asked for a revision. They said yes. Then I was given my list of PS to choose from. The best PS in the area was now on the list which had not been on before. I went to see the new PS. Everything was ready to go. Then the hospital denied my revision. I went to the person in charge of complaints and she really helped me out. We found out that insurance would not pay for a revision if I was to be put under. Apparently, even though I would be under for the breast lift, they were going to charge 3 times the allowed amount to do the revision under anesthesia. Then the hospital said they would do a revision in early Nov as a same day surgery. Not to be put under. Mind you, my revision is in need of a total redo. I have excess skin hanging over the belly button, in my lap and large dog ears. I don't know what they are planning now. They changed their minds about not needing to see me again before the surgery. I go in Wednesday to see what they are going to do. I would much rather be knocked out to have this done! I am told in the office is not bad but I don't know. I do believe a breast lift is easier. I think if you are not knocked out it's fine to do this in the office. They must watch you otherwise. Personally, I would rather be at home to recover. I would not like to be awake for these procedures though. Guest guest
Sue, When you say this guy does it in his office, I really hope you mean he has his own operating suite in his office. The operating room needs to be certified and sterile. All of my surgeries, except one, were done in my doctor's office, but he has several operating rooms. I would definitely not plan on working Monday. Guest guest
Sue, If the PS has an in-office surgical suite, I'd say go for it! Costs are greatly reduced when a PS can have their own specialized facility instead of a general-purpose, fully-equipped hospital with all the required overhead. The wonderful PS that I used here in Bellevue is building his own facility and costs for most procedures will drop by $1000 or more while patients get better care (1:1 nursing, for example). As for the scars widening, my original open RNY scar did, and my brachioplasty scars did too; my extensive abdominoplasty ones did not. Why? I wore the abdominal support garment after my TT for a LONG time, but the one on my arms for a much shorter time; it was summer and it was HOT. If/when I ever get my boobs done, I'm going to get my arms revised, but I will be doing it in early winter so I can wear that support garment 24/7 for months and months. My body seems happy to let scars spread unless they are well-supported all the time AND have pressure on them (that's what makes scars go silver faster). HTH, Z Open RNY 09/17/01 Plastics 07/22/02 http://www.ziobro.us/index.html breast lift I have a few questions regarding a possible breast lift. does it sound feasible to have a PS do a lift in his office on a friday and return to work on a monday? should i even be considering this guy since he doesn't use a hospital? about 2yr. ago i saw two PS in VA. both were going to do it in the hosp. neither would fight my insurance for me. i could not pay for it - over 4500 at the time. i was told 1-2wk. basically i'm looking at a simple reduction with lift, no implants, one going from a full C cup to a B and the other lesser than C going to a B. i just want to be even once again and not facing south although i'm not looking to have boobs like a 16yr. old either. so anyhow, some of my patients have used this PS in town, he does it in the office, they go back to work in 3 days, it seems almost too good to believe. and he's like 1500 cheaper than the docs in VA were which makes no sense considering everything is higher priced here because its a city, not rural appalachia. so if anyone has done something similar let me know - what should i expect. also i'm wondering if the scars are going to widen with time? that is what happens with my open incision - i even had a scar revision and it widened in the last couple months - it was a fine line when done, she even stitched rather than stapled - internal stitches and its wide in places. for whatever reason the stomach scar is not as big an issue to me but i would hate to see wide scars around my boobs! sue Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
Guest guest
Good luck, sweetie! Let us know how you're doing ASAP. Hugs, in NJ ************************ > Wish me luck. I'm going for my breast lift in about an hour. Hope for even, high and perky ones...lol. I really do hope for good results. I'm a little nervous after the abdominplasty, though this is a more experienced surgeon. > Dawn > ]
Guest guest
EJ, and Tara, Thanks for the wellwishes. As soon as I woke up, I was looking. They feel like their mine but they look like they belong to some young girl. I absolutely love them! The hubby can't stop looking...lol. You know, he wouldn't look after the abdominplasty. I came home yesterday. All I did was sleep. Last night I was running a 101F fever. Then today it went up to 102F. We called the doctor and he had me go right out to him. They look fine with no more pain than one would expect. He put me on 10 days of penicillin and wants to see me on Tuesday. Maybe I'm just more susceptible to infection. I ran a high fever for a week after the abdominplasty....thought it was the flu. Anyway, I love these tata's. Tara, it took me 10 years after WLS to get my plastics done. There is always hope! Guest guest
Hi Dawn! I'm glad you're home safe & sound, except for that nasty fever, of course. But, hopefully, the pennicillin will know it out right away. I totally know what you mean by not believing those babies are on your body. I had a breast reduction in July, and I still can't believe these are mine. I tell everyone that I have the boobs of a 17-year old! LOL Just rest, heal & take care of yourself, then go out and buy some tank tops! in NJ *************************** > EJ, and Tara, > > Thanks for the wellwishes. As soon as I woke up, I was looking. Guest guest
, The fever is gone now. Thank goodness since it made me feel crappy. Trust me, I've been buying tops for a younger bustline for awhile now! I've been catching sales and such for almost a year now. They told me there would be no problem getting my boobs approved back when I was approved for the abdominplasty. Have you looked at my before and after pics?
