Guest guest Posted June 13, 2005 Report Share Posted June 13, 2005 , congrats on getting the splint removed. FREEDOM!!! I'm so excited for you. Funny that you brought up about the pain of having regular wires put in after they remove the surgical wires. I was actually thinking about when the time for me to do that will come and was worrying about the pain. Thanks for the headsup. I think I will codeine all the way on the day! Good luck with your first day back at work tomorrow and congrats also on the disability approval FINALLY! Looks like a hungry woman gets what ever she wants:-) Sara > I finally got my splint removed today, and as promised, I have post > some pictures of what it looks like. Guest guest Posted June 13, 2005 Report Share Posted June 13, 2005 , Yay! Congrats on the splint removal. I'm so exicted for you and jealous jealous jealous!!! I'm glad to hear that it was not too painful coming out. And you have permission to eat soft foods?!?!?! That's just too good for words!!! I can hardly wait until I can take a bite of something, anything, and feel my teeth touch. I've been sticking my tongue through my front teeth for so long ... I think I'll probably cry. I'm sorry that things went poorly at the orthodontist's. You make sure and get some food in your stomach, taken more pain medicine if you need it, and get to bed early. You'll be fine tomorrow - just don't push yourself, and don't let anyone else push you either! (or else they have to answer to us!!!) That's great news about your disability. I'm glad to hear that it all worked out. You take care ... and again, congrats! All the best, Carol > I finally got my splint removed today, and as promised, I have post > some pictures of what it looks like. Guest guest Posted June 13, 2005 Report Share Posted June 13, 2005 , thanks for the pictures. It helps to see a picture of the splint. It looks better than what I'd imagined. You're so pretty! Perfect eyes and lips! Lucky girl. Why does the wire change hurt so much? You're talking about the archwires, right? I'm sorry you're in so much pain. Luna P.S. Congrats on the disability. Guest guest Posted June 14, 2005 Report Share Posted June 14, 2005 Luna Thanks for the compliment. I wasn't feeling too pretty those days. Fortunately, I have permanent make-up (eye liner and lipstick), so even right out of surgery, I almost looked like I was going out on the town. ) I think the wire change (arch wires) hurt so much just becuase my mouth was not used to moving after being wired shut for 6 weeks. Even before going to the OD, my jaw was sore. That visit just made it worse. I still had quite a bit of pain today, and I can now open wide enough to fit my pinky and ring fingers, so I just did liquids at work. Now that I am home, I ate some swedish meatballs and noodles. It was nearly impossible to chew because my molars don't touch at all (to be fixed by the OD), and my jaw doesn't move from side to side properly yet. I managed to get them down though, and boy did it taste good. Now, on to pizza! I can't wait to tackle a piece of pizza! > , thanks for the pictures. It helps to see a picture of the > splint. Guest guest Posted June 14, 2005 Report Share Posted June 14, 2005 Derrick The jaw joint on my right side was hurting pretty bad, and the jaw bone on both sides from my chin all the way up to the bend in the jaw bone. They were trying to be gentle with me, but it still hurt. I would definitely recommend taking some sort of pain killer before going, even if it is just Advil. I still hurt today, and I just took a Darvocet. I'm sure the pain will start to ease up after a few days. I will keep you all posted. > , during your othodontist visit what part of your mouth was hurting? > are you ok now? i'm a wimp when it comes to pain. . especially when i'm > just sitting there expecting it. falling on my face out of the blue is > unexpected and so much much more bearable. ahhaha. . wierd .. but funny. .. > hope you're feeling better. i have less than two more week sot go (fingers > crossed) > >

color=#000099> & nbsp;
>
color=#000099>derrick
>
>
src= " http://www.educ.sfu.ca/pdp/admissions/content/general_informatio n/images/sfu.jpg " > width=425 align=bottom>

> >

& gt;From: cfarero > no_reply
& gt;Reply-To: > orthognathicsurgerysupport
& gt;To: > orthognathicsurgerysupport
& gt;Subject: [Orthognathic > Surgery Support ] Splint Removed Today!
& gt;Date: Mon, 13 Jun 2005 > 23:24:07 -0000
& gt;
& gt;I finally got my splint removed today, and as > promised, I have post
& gt;some pictures of what it looks like. Oh, really?! I've been really curious about that, but never known anyone who had it done (that I knew of). I have similar coloring to yours, I think. No color on my lips, lashes or brows. Can they do brows with permanent makeup? Where did you have it done? Do you regret anything? I should do a Google search. Hope you're feeling better soon!
