Guest guest
Hello everyone! I hope this message finds you well and happy and enjoying the 4th of July A month or so ago I started to have 'weird' symptoms, blood in my stools, my tummy wasn't feeling right...lots of gas...so I went to a gastroenterologyst, he did a rectal exam and then schedule me in for a 'mini colonoscopy " (I don't have insurance and I cannot afford a full one)...the preparations was horrible I've never been in so much pain, the laxative was the worst thing ever! Anyway I did the exam and he diagnosed me with Ulcerative colitis...he gave me some enemas to do and I did it for a week and I was getting a lot of the side effects...I went back to see him and told him about it...he just wouldn't listen to me...when I told him I was feeling very dizzy he said it was the heat of the summer o.O, when I told him I had pain in my back shooting down my legs he said it was sciatica O.O...no comment...so he told me to stop the enema and put me on some sulfa drugs pills...he gave me 8 pills a day!!! I started to feel sick immediately I had a splitting headache (I never have them) and I was very sick and out of it...I saw another doctor and I talk to the pharmacist and they both said he was giving me and insane amount! I called him back...his answered was (after getting pissy than another doc and a pharmacist said he gave me too much) " Well I guess there's nothing to do for you! " ...He told me to go back on the enema...I hang up and stopped all the medications he gave me! I talk to another doctor that follows me...he only uses natural remedies and he was just wonderful to me...I'm following his program now and he always gives me hope!!! I came across this book on the net and bought it... Today I started the diet... I'm looking forward to be symptoms free soon! I've never had diarrhea, I still see some blood here and there, I have very mild cramping here and there, sometimes I'm gassy, I noticed that the sides of my intestine are kinda swollen, and I'm a bit bloated sometimes, but I go every day regularly and it's always formed. How do you like the diet? Can you mix and match the ingredients that are allowed? Or you can only have the recipes in the book? Thank you for reading my story and for the support!!! Love and health to you all
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! I know you will feel comfortable here with the rest of us. I think most of us have been to at least one doctor from Hell, some many many of them. Thank goodness you found the diet fairly soon. It took me 27 years! Read read read and ask lots of questions. The main thing to remember, getting started, is to ditch those illegals. Of the legal foods, you may or may not be able to handle them now, even the ones recommended right for the beginning. I wasn't at all able to eat what was suggested for Intro, but then, I knew what I could eat so I did that (minus the rice that had been clobbering me). Anyhow, get started as fast as you can, and then you can start feeling better!
Guest guest
Hi , thank you so much for your words! I'm hanging in here My symptoms thank Goodness have never been too bad, I never had diarrhea, I have some blood on the paper but never had pink water, some very mild cramping here and there, what maybe bothers me the most is the nausea that comes and goes and the dizziness, I almost feel like I have a fever... So yeah that's fun I'm gonna do the diet for a month and see if I notice any improvement... Can I ask you how long have you been on the diet and what state where you in when you started and when did you start noticing some improvements? Sorry for all the questions Thank you so much for your support!!! > > Hi , > > Welcome to the group! I know you will feel comfortable here with the > rest of us. Guest guest
I was given enterocort and I was constantly dizzy on it. My GI said I would not absorb it, but tests showed that I did. I was so dizzy I could not drive and I remember walking around a Target and it felt like the floor was moving. This feeling went away as I weaned off the enterocort. I don't know if it was the drug or just the general feeling sick. It thankfully all got better on SCD. Hang in there and you should feel better in time. PJ > > > > Hi , > > > > Welcome to the group! Guest guest
Hi , If we made out a huge chart of all of us in the group and had places to put check marks for our symptoms, the total list would be a pretty long list, I think! Some of us have one thing, some another, when it comes to both diagnosis and symptoms. Sure, I don't mind boring you with my biography. I was really really ill when I started and pretty near hopeless after going downhill for 27 years. In exactly two weeks, on July 19th, it will be my one-year anniversary! My diagnoses and symptoms when I started were IBS (mixed), leaky gut, fibromyalgia, adrenal insufficiency or failure, hypothyroid, and CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome). My IBS started typically and violently after what seemed like a bad flu, over Memorial Day 1982. At that time I suddenly lost whole food groups and acquired a great deal of D after a lifetime of C. Over the course of the 27 years I learned, for the most part, by painful experience the foods I could and could not eat. At least twice I was checked for gut dysbiosis but never really was treated for that so I suppose nobody thought I had it. From an IBS group I " learned " that rice should be the basis of a nice bland diet for IBS. This may well be true IF you don't have dysbiosis! Anyhow, this time last year when I started the diet, I actually was ON it except for that dratted rice. It was no trouble to ditch rice. I HATE rice! I was taking an illegal fiber (acacia) and had illegals in my supplements and those took awhile to work out of my diet. However, just ditching the rice was almost miraculous. Three or four days later, I felt better! Not well, not by any means, but the gut stuff calmed down considerably and somehow, a deep underlying feeling of being dreadfully ill eased up quite a bit. Was I well? No. Am I well now? No. But the gut stuff continues to improve and with sorting all that out I was able to realize I have another problem, mitochondrial failure, and now I am working on that as well. I wouldn't give up on the diet for anything. The difference between now and this time last year is, a lot. Anyhow, over this last year I have had many ups and downs, as we all do. I have tried to get more foods into my diet, and some work, and some do not work. When they do not work, oops, bad day or two. But it's OK, we have to be detectives here and so we are. You will FOR SURE want to keep a detailed diary of what you eat and " bathroom details " , other symptoms, and it's best to keep track of other things that affect your health, stressful stuff, lack of sleep, whatever. It really really helps in sorting out patterns of what's happening. I can't really answer to your specific symptoms but I know others will. Keep asking questions, just about anything that can happen has happened to someone here and they'll be glad to tell you all about it. Take care, Hi , thank you so much for your words!
