Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I've been reading the posts for the last couple of days, and I thought it's time that I gave a little intro. I had my WLS (open RNY) on Nov 23rd 2001, it took me a long, long time to recover. I was tired all the time, and nauseated. I didn't go back to work for a full 8 weeks after my surgery, and even then I would come home, and crash on the couch. I was unable to eat anything solid, and often even the liquids came back up. About 3 months after my surgery I was lying in bed, with my hand on my tummy, just about to fall asleep when I felt a kick. It completely freaked me out, and the next day I confirmed my suspicions. Yup, I was pregnant, not a little pregnant either. I was almost 5 months pregnant, which meant that I was about 6 weeks pregnant when I had my RNY. Well of course I was terrified for the baby, but after many tests, the docs confirmed that the baby was fine and I would have a little girl. I continued to be ill, and was again off work for about 10 weeks, and during that time I was hospitalized, on TPN a couple of times. I lost a total of 110 lbs during my pregnancy. I had rough pregnancy's before, so the docs put the nausea, and sickness down to my pregnancy The baby came on July 13th, and as if just being there wasn't surprise enough, after 4 ultrasounds confirming my little girl, out popped my darling SON . After my pregnancy, I was still ill. I lost continually until I was about 20 lbs underweight. I got to the point where I could not keep down anything, even water, and spent many nights in emergency getting IV fluids. By last October I was hospitalized again, and was there for close to 2 months, on TPN and needed followup surgery to correct a couple of problems. It was touch and go for a while, they weren't sure if I would survive. I had an ulcer the size of a tennis ball, a narrowing of the stoma, and a kink in my intesting. Since my 2nd surgery I haven't looked back, I'm strong, healthy, energetic and life is great. All in all I don't regret a thing and I would do it again in a heartbeat! 294/145 Goal!!!
