I finally got my splint removed today, and as promised, I have post

some pictures of what it looks like. I posted a couple different

angles to try to give a good idea what it looks like. I don't think

that everyone gets the same kind of splint. I only had a lower

advancement, so you may have something different if you just had upper

or both.

Getting it removed was fairly painles, but boy does my bite feel

wierd. My jaw has been in the same place for 30 years, so it really

feels wierd for my front teeth to touch when I bite. Also, my jaw was

slightly tilted during the surgery, and my back teeth don't touch at

all. This will be corrected by my orthodontist. So far, things are

looking good. My OS said that I can start chewing soft food, and work

my up to other foods as I feel comfortable.

After getting the splint removed, I went to my orthodontist to get my

surgical wires replaced with thinner wires. This had to be the most

painful experience that I have had through this entire process. They

were extremely gentle with me, but it still hurt like crazy. I took a

Motrin 800 before I went to the ortho, but I just took a Darvocet now

that I am home because the pain is about an 8 on a scale from 1 to 10.

I hope the pain subsides by tomorrow morning because it is my first

day back to work, and my boss has scheduled me in meetings all day.

I finally got my diability approved for my time off work today, so

that was good news. It just took a little persistance.

Hoping for a painless tomorrow,
