I commend you on reaching out to us about your struggle with your 9 year old.

It seems to me that girls that age go through growth spurts, don't they? I mean

you may notice a little bulge but it may just be gone with the next spurt. The

best thing you can do is keep up the walks with her and keep the channel of

communication open. I am pleased that she " hasn't noticed " the shapes of others

in her class. She probably has a healthy body image right now. If I were you I

would work on keeping it that way. Girls these days are under so much pressure

from society and their peers that I hear about 6 year olds going on diets. That

scares the crap out of me. Good luck to you. I am sure there are reference

books out there that may help you too. Maybe check with the library? Take
