Guest guest
alyssa -wow - can't believe you never has a period! i know 12 is the average age so i'm guessing you were sick prior to dx? Not sick, just always very skinny, so I'm guessing that's why I didn't get it earlier. I was also vegetarian for a while, and ate a lot of soy, so maybe that had something to do with it too. I would be happy I haven't had to deal with it, other than the whole osteoporosis thing. Cheers!Alyssa 16 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Azathioprine 75 mg 1x per dayPrednisone 15 mg 1x per day (trying to wean!!!!) Guest guest
Amber, My GI hadn't prescribed LDN before me but somebody had to be first and now he's got a few patients trying it. You might try pointing out that its waaaaay safer than something like Humira. fi > > > > n, > > I didn't realize LDN helps fertility. > > I mentioned LDN to my GI once, and he hadn't heard of it. I don't think he'd be comfortable prescribing it since he hasn't before, though I would like to try it. I do like my GI, though, and I'm not quite ready to cut ties. Maybe I'll bring it up again and see what he says. > > Thanks, > > Amber >
Guest guest
Amber, I'd like to say it was my great powers of persuasion but it was really that he had run out of other options for me. I've tried all the Crohn's drugs to no avail and I was slated to get a stem cell transplant, which is potentially fatal, but the first round of treatment (a single dose of IV chemotherapy) caused a new fistula so they wouldn't move forward with the transplant. I've only been on the LDN for a couple of months but, for the first time in years, I'm actually getting better instead of slowly getting worse and all the infections that I've acquired over the years as a result of immune-compromising drugs are finally finalllly going away. I did take him the first crohn's study published by Jill and pointed out repeatedly that it had a great safety profile compared to the Humira he wanted me to take, which may have been the deciding factor. And I also pointed out that its my body and if I'm willing to suffer a little and try this experiment rather than take something that comes with numerous scary cautions, what difference is it to him? I'm the one who gets to suffer anyway. (To which he laughed and said, " I guess so. " ) You'll never know unless you try; the worst your GI can say is no. fiona > > > > Fiona, > > Really, that's great that you were the first. Do you mind my asking how you swayed him or her to let you try it? > > Thanks, > > Amber > > > > > > > > > > > > > > n, > > > > > > I didn't realize LDN helps fertility. > > > > > > I mentioned LDN to my GI once, and he hadn't heard of it. Guest guest
From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of fossil.color I'm such a worrier and need to calm my thoughts. Though every time I tried I'd get frustrated, because my mind wouldn't shut up! Just means I need to keep practicing though! Lol Amber, Your mind will continue its chatter. Give it direction, give it something to do, some problem to solve. Give it direction and say it out loud ( ‘cause the universe is not psychic). For example, say out loud ‘mind, I want you to come up with solutions to x problem. You may begin, thank you.’ Or some such direction.
