Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions or tips on eating at restaurants?

I have my first date since going SCD on Saturday and I would rather go somewhere

that's easy for me to eat at to make it as easy as possible. Any advice would be

greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Amber

Hi Amber,Good for you about going out. My husband is very understanding and we still go out once in a while. I scope out the restaurants menus online and usually order a grilled meat/seafood with vegetables on the side. All the restaurants we have been to don't mind substituting the starch (rice, potatoes, whatever) with a double order of veggies. Finish off with a glass of red wine, sometimes an appetizer. We have been to the Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Outback, even Hooters (get the wings naked). Good luck and enjoy.AgnesSubject: SCD and RestaurantsTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday,

Chicken makes me nervous because so much of it has injected broths and

flavorings before it even gets to the restaurant. Cheaper cuts of steak are

often pre-marinated. I usually order fish, it is rarely marinated, or the more

expensive cuts of steak, and I always ask if it is marinated before ordering.

It costs more for me to eat out since I can not have the cheaper pasta type

dishes, but I justify it by eating out less. I always check out the menu first

and talk to the manager before hand. That way I don't make a big deal at the

table in front of guests.

Check the applications section here for SCD friendly places to eat.

I've had the best success at non-chain, locally owned restaurants that do all their own food preparation. They're accommodating and you can then ask that, say, any sugar or flour be left out of a sauce, ask for things non-marinaded, etc.Straight grilled meat of whatever kind you like and grilled or cooked vegetables, or a salad of greens with simply oil and vinegar is normally obtainable and is a pertty "normal" meal. As Agnes said, all the restaurants I've dealt with are happy to double the veggies while omitting potatoes, bread, etc.n>> >> > Subject: SCD and Restaurants> To: BTVC-SCD > Date: Thursday, July 15, 2010, 10:27 AM>>>>>>>>  >>>>>> Hey guys,>> I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions or tips on eating at > restaurants? one thing with fish is that they sometimes dust it with wondra flour first -

depending on the

prep needed for the way they are cooking it. Not for broiled fish, but for

other ways, pan

cooking, etc.
