Oh my ... I never thought about this but you know ... you are right. I have

become very fussy about my food. I never thought of it as a ritual but just

fussiness. I think my attitude is I can have so little of it .. I want

those few bites to be just right.

That's probably also another reason why I am so happy to be using shakes.

Ordering out ... I have been disappointed more times than I can count. I

like scrambled eggs. Omelets are usually something easy to order when out

but I rarely can get them just the right consistency anymore. And at home,

if my eggs aren't really fresh, they have a funny taste to me, even if the

expiration date is 2 weeks away.

I actually think I like my post-op eating ideas better. Before I think I

was more like a vacuum and inhaled everything - including foods I didn't

like. Now I will not eat any foods I don't like or that don't taste good to

me.

Oh and as for the blueberries. I like my blueberries very hard and very cold

too and always have. AND I hate apples that are beautiful looking but have

absolutely no flavor. But since eating low carb I rarely eat fruit now

anyway.

The same thing has happened to me. If the food, whatever it is, is not just

right, or just the way I want it, I won't eat it. I guess I don't want to

waste the space, when there are so many other things I do like.

Just a few months ago, I was eating some mixed nuts, when I picked up a

Brazil nut. I looked at it for awhile and then wondered why I always eat

them, even though I have never liked them. It was such a relief to realize I

did NOT have to eat them. I will not be arrested if I throw them away or

save them for someone else.

Barbara Jean,

You can just send those Brazil nuts to me; I'm the one who steals them out

of all of the mixed nuts around here. :-) those and the almonds are

MINE! Gotta have some every few days. I was SO relieved when I started

seeing articles saying that it's GOOD FOR YOU to eat nuts!

Nope, you're not alone. Pouch space is valuable, and I'm not wasting it on

stuff that isn't the way I like it. I only drink My ProScore 100 with a

straw and my Stack only withOUT a straw. I use the same glass for protein

(until it breaks, usually).

I'm the same way with fresh food. It has to be RIGHT or I am not eating it.

My Tina (yellow lab/husky) also likes to help me. Cats are WAY too good to

help with rejects, of course.

AND I eat the same thing for maybe 2 weeks and can't get enough of it, then

lose interest in that for 6 months.

Oh oh, you said the " N " word! Nuts make me nuts! My husband too. And I

find it almost impossible to limit myself to one ounce of them (any kind), or

even two ounces. And it doesn't help knowing how " healthy " they are, it just

gives me an EXCUSE! ROFL! I am in awe of anyone who can eat just a few and

set them aside! I don't regularly bring them home (it's easier that way),

but I don't want my husband to have to give them up because of me, so when I

buy him some or he buys himself some, I tell him to hide them from me,

seriously! Or I'll tell him beforehand, " just give me a few and don't weaken

when I

whine for more " and that works too, as long as I don't know where he is

stashing them! They are like crack to me! LOLOL!

Very very healthy, heart healthy, but oh so calorie dense!

Lucille (enjoy your nuts Barbara Jean!)

I have someone at works hold my nuts, but he gives in and gives them to me

when I ask. So, I have asked another lady. By the way, I am ROFLMAO as I

write this. I sure do break myself up.

Lucille:

I've noticed over the past few years that I have been eating things that

I would never even have tasted before and things that I used to love, I

don't even bat an eye at. My newfound thing two years ago was tomatoes

and cucumbers. Couldn't go a day without them. Think at one point that

is all I ate for about three to four weeks post-op from my revision.

That is all I wanted and the tomatoes had to be cut a certain way, the

cucumbers had to be sliced a certain way and peeled and they had to be

room temperature. Could not tolerate them being cold. However, the ranch

dressing I dipped them in had to be right out of the fridge. I'm not

usually one to " fuss " over food. Pre wls I would just see it and inhale

it without a moments thought.

Also, just an added note. When my daughter was teething, we would give

her frozen blueberries. They felt good on her teeth and they melted so

fast once they were in her mouth that we didn't worry about her choking

on them. We have some wild pictures of her with a her little " blue "

face. She still loves them frozen. Personally, I don't like them unless

they're in a muffin. : )

OK, well Lucille is NOT in charge of the great nut exchange. That's where

everyone opens their mixed nuts and sends all the Brazil nuts somewhere else

and all the cashews to me.
