Guest guest
Hi Sher, You may not need this solution, but it could be useful for others. I bought a " bed pillow " , which is the type of pillow you use to prop yourself up to read in bed (it had arms on it with handy little pockets for lip balm, kleenex, etc). I supplemented this with some small cushions (bought at a fabric store, the kind you cover yourself) to fill in the area in the lower back so that I was at more of an angle. It worked perfectly for me. Other people have used Lazy-Boy chairs, but this is a far less expensive solution (CAD 30). I did lounge on the couch during the day but could never get a good night's rest on it - it's just not meant for it. > HI - I have been reading some posts regarding difficulty sleeping > etc...I NEVER sleep on the couch but since I have been home from the > hospital, I have had no choice. Guest guest
, where did you find your bed pillow? (I've also heard them called lounge pillows.) I've been looking and looking and can't seem to find them in my town. L
Guest guest
I'm in Canada, and bought mine at Home Outfitters, which is run by The Bay. Any store that sells bed linens, cushions, and that sort of thing would probably have them. I would guess that Walmart and Target might have them too. Just nose around the cushions section. > , where did you find your bed pillow? (I've also heard them > called lounge pillows.) I've been looking and looking and can't seem > to find them in my town. Guest guest
I go through this constantly with Adam. I really think Adam gets to the point where he is actually over tired and can't settle down to sleep. I don't know about you, but for me when I am stressed or feeling anxious I have a heck of a time getting to sleep at night and, as an adult, I have been on medication several times over the years, to get my brain to shut down enough for me to fall asleep at night. You know what I mean? Now I am not advocating medicine, I'm just drawing on my experience. Anyway, with school having just started, Tori is probably getting over tired, is trying to get use to all the changes and is getting anxious. Then she can't fall asleep and these same feelings will wake you up early too. What to do? Well, this works for me (in fact it works so well, I don't need medication anymore) and now I have started it for Adam and it works there as well. I have a t.v. in my room and Adam does as well. If I lie in bed (and having all lights out is important), and I watch t.v. I will drift off within 10-20 minutes. But the light off signals to the body " sleep " and lying still and watching also signals to the body 'sleep " but at the same time watching t.v. focuses my thoughts onto something " mundane " and then next thing I know I have drifted off. Many nights I have had to go in and turn Adam's t.v. off. Now my problem is getting him to get into bed and turn the light off to watch t.v. WHEN I SAY!! He will delay this by farting around getting drinks, or having a snack or " I just need to finish this one picture " and next thing I know an hour has gone by. But last night I told him (he's on a reward system for other things) but I told him " if you DON'T get into bed and lights out and just watch t.v. at 10 p.m. (his bed time) then I am taking money AWAY from you. I was pretty forceful because this is affecting his school day (being tired)......well he did it last night and was sound asleep by 10:30!! Anyway, just some thoughts. Guest guest
I have been using over the counter meds on and off for 2 weeks now. I will try the T.V for us. Guest guest
Have you tried playing soft music in her room - like the baby Mozart CD or on the the CD's that have something like the rain forest or the ocean on it? We also try to make sure that while the kids are having snack before bed that they are not playing with toys or anything that will stimulate their brain to keep working. What about giving her a massage? Good luck. Let me know how it works out.
