I like this.. I usually make it as a rub.

Basic spice mix:

3 tsp chili powder

1,5 tsp cummin

1,5 tsp thyme

1,5 organo

0,5 tsp cajenne

0,5 tsp pepper

0,5 tsp salt

When I make it as a rub I add:

2 tbsp oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

And then rub it on the meat :)

Emeril's Essense is really good. I used it pre SCD. If you have legal garlic and

onion powder, it's good.

Ingredients

2 1/2 tablespoons paprika

2 tablespoons salt

2 tablespoons garlic powder

1 tablespoon black pepper

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon cayenne pepper

1 tablespoon dried oregano

1 tablespoon dried thyme

Directions

Combine all ingredients thoroughly.

One day I'll get around to trying to recreate Tony's or Slap Yo Mama spice

mixes.

Thanks for the responses everyone! If I come up with anything I think worth sharing I will certainly do so.

Did you see the recipe for blackened chicken livers a few days ago--how did that look to you?

Thank for the recipe K, we don't have legal chili powder here though and I haven't made it to Penzey's to try to get different chiles.

You know, I did, but I didn't even think of it in this context. Thanks for pointing that out, Debbie.
