Guest guest
> Hey all,>> Just talked to a good doctor today. he recommended I temporarily take a > lot> of zinc for IBD, along with s. boulardii. he said above I believe 35 mg> zinc/day long term can be immunosuppresive, but 50 mg twice a day, once> before breakfast and once before dinner (100 mg total) for 8 weeks taken > in> conjunction with s. boulardii ["2 pills 1/2 hour before breakfast"] has > been> shown to be very helpful and boosting to the immune system with IBD.>> Also, I went to order some s. boulardii from a site I found recommended > on> this list and see that it's on sale again, I wanted to give everyone a > heads> up in case they wanted to stock up. Last I heard it had gone up in price> before, I wonder how long it will be on sale this time.Interesting to know about the zinc. I had previously read that it can be harmful to take long term, but apparently 8 weeks isn't 'long-term."I know I can fend off a lot of stuff, including colds, by taking zinc. It works quickly and WORKS.Re: S. boulardii: Do you know what the regular price is at netnutri.com? Do they normally sell it at the list price? (Current sale price is $11.99 for Nutricology brand. That's a very good deal. Lucky Vitamin's regular price for the same thing is $12.79. That's still good, though.)n>> http://www.netnutri.com/browse.cfm/4,4488.html>>> also, I tried himalayan crystal salt, which is supposed to have better> absorption of the nigh on 84 trace minerals around in most (unrefined) > sea> salts due to molecular structure. I> _highly_ recommend it to anyone who has depleted minerals, especially > trace> minerals, from adrenal problems and/or severe prolonged malabsorption > from> IBD.> It's one of the more major milestones I've hit in my long term recovery > over> the years, and I am extremely grateful for it. that stuff is awesome.>> That being said, I in my attention to detail did catch myself after a day> craving my old grey sea salt and tried it and found that it somehow also> still benefitted me, made my body feel good in a way that the himalayan> crystal salt did not, and that they are both useful. I am not > surprised.. I> just found recently that the two different supposedly high quality > brands of> organic cinnamon that I bought to use for my chinese medicine were both > very> useful and helpful to me, but in different ways. neither made the other> brand of cinnamon redundant.>> ..then wondering if the two types of salt would or could work> synergistically, as many, many foods and herbs do, I tried placing a > grain> of each under my tongue [for sublingual (superior) absorption] at the > same> time. wow. that's one of the most amazing feelings I've ever had. they> definitely can work synergistically.>>> ..It's kind of sad how depleted of trace minerals I am and how far off my> body electronics are, but I am so grateful to have received such an> amazingly powerful benefit from this salt. I hope that anyone else out > there> as sick as I can find it too, and anyone less sick might also find it> useful.>> again, it's himalayan _crystal_ salt. rock salt has a different, less> effective or useful, molecular structure.>> oh, also, I forgot to mention that the good doctor I spoke to today, > when I> inquired about baking soda and told him I was consuming some in my> electrolyte drink, advised that the basic nature of the baking soda would> interfere with the acidity in my colon, interfering with digestion. I> inquired if I should merely avoid it while eating or around eating > times, or> if I should give it up completely. he shook his head at me and told me to> give it up completely, and to make my electrolyte drink with just salt > and> juice. I thought that was interesting.>>> Best,> -- Now available.
