Plain Dannon and Fage (a greek yogurt) seem to be the easiest to find!

and found that yogurt starter needs to be without bifidus. Checked all yogurts

around - they all have bifidus.

I had the same problem, so I ended up using the Yogourmet powdered starter. Even though it has sucrose, that apparently gets eaten up in the fermentation process.kt>> Hi everyone,> > I am making SCD yogurt using regular yogurt as a starter. It works really well. I used to use Fage, but then discovered it doesn't contain Acidophilus, so I've switched to yogourmet starter. It's actually a bit easier to mix with the heated/cooled milk, I find, and it has all 3 strains.

I think you guys may have just missed my post about this very topic.

I was confused about how to get every strain- it's tough because each starter

has a different combo:

GI Prostart: L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus and L. Casei

Yogurmet: L. Casei, Acidophilus

Dannon & Fage: L. Bulgaricus, S. Thermophilus

I use the GI prostart and then take the SCDophilus probiotic to get them all.

I'm not sure if there is a benefit to getting each strain, but it does give me a

piece of mind that I am doing everything that I can!

On my box of Yogourmet starter it lists L. bulgaricus, S.thermophilus, and L.acidophilus. Are there different kind of this starter? I've only see this one.kt>> I think you guys may have just missed my post about this very topic. > I was confused about how to get every strain- it's tough because each starter has a different combo:> > GI Prostart: L. Oh gosh, I am sorry. You are correct!

There is another Yogurmet starter, but it is illegal because it contains

Bifidus. I hope I didn't cause any confusion!

Also, this is what Kim (the moderator) wrote back to me about bacterial strains:

" Here are the recommended bacterial strains:

For yogurt: S. Thermophilus, L. Bulgaricus (required to coagulate milk); L.

Acidophilus or L. Casei could be included. You don't necessarily need L. Casei

if you are tolerating L. Acidophilus along with the other two strains. "

Handy info to have :)

Joanna,

Quick correction, here.

Yogourmet has s. thermophilus, l. bulgaricus, and l. acidophilus in

it.

Hey! Just getting caught up now that I am back from vacation... I feel really

bad that I caused confusion over this. Thanks for reinforcing the correction!

Typokinesis is a royal pain, some times. So is what a writer friend of

mine calls " data retrieval malfunction. " Which basically means

that you know something perfectly well, but it slipped your mind while

writing.
