Guest guest
> I'm leaving for an all-inclusive vacation and was wondering if there were any alcoholic beverages I could enjoy on my trip. I typically drink red wine or some vodka on the rocks but was hoping I could try something different. Any ideas or advice? Maybe a fresh strawberry daiquiri? > > I also notice that Chaptalization (the process of adding sugar to unfermented grape must in order to increase the alcohol content after fermentation) is prohibited in Australia, Austria, California, Italy, and South Africa. Does that mean any wines from these regions are legal? Even sweet wines? Yes, theoretically. But depending on your level, and especially on vacation where you don't want to play around with your reaction too much in case of a bad reaction, you might want to stick with dry wines. Unless of course you are in remission and feeling really steady. Mara
Guest guest
I am only 7 weeks into the diet, and still healing, but if I could tolerate alcohol better, I would bring along some of my own SCD legal juices in my purse just to be safe, like those litte cans of Dole Unsweetened Pineapple Juice for *vodka & pineapple cocktails* and even some legal canned tomato juice for *bloody marys* (as regular tobasco is also legal) and this would be yummy with salt, pepper & a few fresh veggies. Fresh Orange Juice for *screwdrivers* too! And even an SCD legal version of a *mojito*, I guess Rum is questionable, but maybe try vodka, ice, soda water, fresh mint, lime juice, and honey to replicate. Oh, I wish I could join you!!! Lately I really enjoy a splash of whelches grape juice with soda water on ice, and I imagine it would also taste great with a splash of vodka added. You could call this one a *jolly rancher*. *Coffee coolers*: iced black coffee, vodka, honey, and homemade almond or coconut milk, maybe a dash of cinamon. I would assume that some bartenders out there would be fine with serving you vodka on the rocks and letting you add your own can of juice, " some " but maybe not all. I used to bartend, and I would have been fine with it. Oh, and even a *vodka lemonade* with fresh squeezed lemon juice and honey! Bon Voyage! - SCD 7 weeks > > I'm leaving for an all-inclusive vacation and was wondering if there were any alcoholic beverages I could enjoy on my trip. Guest guest
I like old fashioned mojitos if they make them fresh. Lime, mint, a little sweet n low or honey, and club soda. YUMMMY Fresh margaritas are good. Juice of 1 lime, 1 lemon, and 1/4 orange, a little sweet n low or honey, tequila and top with club soda. > > I'm leaving for an all-inclusive vacation and was wondering if there were any alcoholic beverages I could enjoy on my trip. Guest guest
I hope not. I thought clear distilled liquors were ok... Rum, Vodka, Gin, Tequila. I hope I haven't been messing up. O.o>> >>>> Tequila is loaded with sugar, is it not?>>>> n>This got me looking into just what is in tequila. It's made from agave (and the sugars in the plant). I found this: >There are two basic categories of tequila: mixtos and 100% agave. Mixtos use no less than 51% agave, with other sugars making up the remainder. Mixtos use both glucose and fructose sugars.>>With 100% agave tequila, blanco or plata is harsher with the bold flavors of the distilled agave up front, while reposado and añejo are smoother, subtler, and more complex. As with other spirits that >are aged in casks, tequila takes on the flavors of the wood, while the harshness of the alcohol mellows. The major flavor distinction with 100% agave tequila is the base ingredient, which is more >vegetal than grain spirits (and often more complex).>>Tequila is usually bottled in one of five categories:[7]>Blanco ("white") or plata ("silver"): white spirit, un-aged and bottled or stored immediately after distillation, or aged less than two months in stainless steel or neutral oak barrels;>Joven ("young") or oro ("gold"): is silver tequila with caramel or food coloring added. Examples are Cuervo Gold or Sauza Gold>Reposado ("rested"): aged a minimum of two months, but less than a year in oak barrels;>Añejo ("aged" or "vintage"): aged a minimum of one year, but less than three years in oak barrels;>Extra Añejo ("extra aged" or "ultra aged"): aged a minimum of three years in oak barrels. This category was established in March 2006.-- Now available.
