Hey KT!

I'm almost positive gum of any kind is illegal :(

But I do believe the soy oil is OK.

Please wait to hear from Marilyn or Kim (the moderators) though before making

any final decisions!

Guess

I missed your email. Joanna is correct.

Gums

of any kind are illegal, even Arabic gum. They contain high levels of

polysaccharides, which are the carbohydrates we are avoiding on SCD. I would

try to find an alternative form of the supplement. There is a good chance

of delaying your healing or developing worsening symptoms by using a supplement

containing Arabic gum (or any other gums) over the long-term.

Soybean

oil is one of the “iffy” ones. Elaine did change her mind on

this one, or so I understand, rating it as illegal at first then allowing it

later on. At least it is rated illegal on her website list of legal/illegals,

but in an article addressing autism and SCD she mentioned that soybean oil was

OK. I would expect that some folks won’t have any noticeable

problems from using it and others will have bad reactions to it, especially with

long-term usage. Again, I’d try to find other alternatives, or

perhaps investigate using a compounding pharmacy.
