Some people can do it quickly -- as I also did -- some simply can't. If you're eating meat and vegetables and fruit (and add some nuts soon) you're getting a great deal of fiber. You certainly shouldn't need to supplement it.Actually, the probiotic S. boulardii helps for loose stools (among other things). I'd definitely take that, if I were you.n-- Now available. Guest guest
Phil, I had the same problem 4 months ago when I started the diet. This is not the right approach! Read Elaine's book and definitely start with the introductory diet and then start slowly adding foods. It is a very long process, but you will get more effective results in the end. I started with the intro diet and did not eat yogurt until the 3rd or 4th week because then I started having less cramping and harder stools. For the first two weeks try to eat boiled fruits and veggies and eat meat. Eat eggs and make homemade jelly. It is all in Elaine's book. I tried to do what you are doing - eating differnt legal foods without the right order, but was having pains and loose stool. Then I started the intro diet and adding foods slowly. Now, at my fourth month, I started having hard stools no matter that I am still adding on foods - and this is without problems. I used this website when I was beginning the diet, but it might be different for different people: http://pecanbread.com/p/how/stages.html. Hope that helps! Guest guest
The benefit I see to adding one food at a time and waiting several days to a week before adding another is that if you have a symptom come up, you have an idea about what might have caused it. When I was introducing new foods, I worried a bit less about the stages and a bit more about the foods that I normally have around and like to eat, started with the least likely to bother me and worked my way up. There have been foods that HAVE bothered me in this process and it has been easy to pinpoint them this way.
