Guest guest
I'm having a harder time post-op closing my lips (but I think it's mostly due to swelling and splint). I can close them, it just takes a conscious effort, where as before, it didn't (I had my surgery due to a cross-bite). Anyhow, to answer your question: In normal " resting " position, my lips were slightly together with a little parting in the center and my teeth were not in bite position, but slightly apart (so they didn't really touch). I think this may all be dependant on how you breathe too (i.e., if you're a mouth vs. nose breather), but I think that not having your lips/teeth completely shut and touching at rest is not abnormal. -- How is your tongue issue? I hope that you are, at least, not in pain anymore. I have one more week of this splint and I can't wait to get it out!! I still have " golfball cheeks " too, and it's frustrating that it's not going down. I hope it's just the swelling and not the new position of my jaw that is making my cheeks look like this! > > This is a question really I guess for any one but perhaps post- > opers > > can answer it best. > > > > When you are in resting position, for example when you're asleep or > > reading or watching television, how do you keep your > teeth/bite/mouth? > > Are your teeth clenched closed or are they slightly parted or just > > resting gently on top of each other?
