Guest guest
Thanks to all of you for your kind comments re: my anonymous commenter. I have made it so now anonymous people can't comment, i.e. you have to have a Livejournal and sign in to say something. Which sucks but will at least prevent the mean people! I know all of you got by so I can surely too. And I am certainly not about to stop smiling if I wish to cos of what the mean people say! Thanks again! Guest guest
Be patient with yourself. You're still early on in the recovery. Mouth opening will improve, ability to eat will improve. Orthodontists can do miraculous things with gaps too. > > Thanks for everyones respnonses, you all are great. > > I tried to eat some chili and chicken noodle soup but I just cant > get my mouth open wide enough, the big splint doesnt help, but even > without it I dont think I could. > > I thought mabye I could brush my teeth but I guess thats out of the > question too. > > lookin at my bite..it has has changed since I got home today, looked > OK when I left the surgeon, I dont know when I have my mouth > completely shut my top teeth and bottom teeth do not match up and > there is a signifigant gap, large enough I can probably fit things > through my teeth on my left side, I guess I will give It a week, Im > suppose to go back to my surgeon in a week to get checked out. > > It feels so weird I can barely open my mouth..like I almost forgot > how to do it or something, oh well im tired of worrying for tonight. > > God Bless everyone in recovery and good luck to those going into > surgery. >
Guest guest
Hi nky_guy, My surgeon purposely leaves gaps in the back teeth, my front teeth will hit, but the back teeth do not and there are gaps - he says they do it this way for all their surgeries. Then, when the orthodontist makes his first adjustment it causes the molars to start to line up. Ask your surgeon next time you are in if this is what he did and why there are gaps. Try using a baby toothbrush for brushing - it works better than an adult toothbrush at this stage. I also used a little syringe to squirt water and mouth wash onto my teeth to clean them. And, I also used a syringe to eat with for the first 4 weeks until the splint came out. Take care, Pam > > Thanks for everyones respnonses, you all are great. >
