Guest guest
michelle, your pics look great! and your daughter is adorable ) i wouldn't hesitate looking for another doc to " work " on your nose (if that's what you want...i think your nose looks cute!) an oral surgeon is no ent or even plastic surgeon...so although he may do this once in a while he probably doesn't do it as many times as a lefort! i mean...you wouldn't have gone to an ent to get your jaw fixed - although technically he should be able to it. i would discuss your concerns with your os first - and see what he thinks could be done. my surgeon initially mentioned that i may want a lip/nose revision...but when i began asking him about it at the last two appts he said just to relax - that nothing should be done for 9 months since that's when most of the swelling is finally gone. oh - and if you're feeling any loyalty issues to your os...don't. i had the same plastic surgeon from the time i was two days old until 2 years ago. i was very happy with the results of my lip and nose - but couldn't breathe and still had the fistula. i initially saw my new surgeon because i was away from home and thought it was a quick problem. when i discussed the plan with my old surgeon he said that i didn't need the proceedure...that he could do something much easier in day stay. with all the facts in hand, though, i knew the lefort and grafting was a better overall option...and that maybe i should have done it sooner. i felt way guilty about leaving my old surgeon - he was like a family member to me - but realized that maybe i had just outgrown the techniques that he could comfortably perform. it felt really nice to hear that my new surgeon complimented my old surgeons work during surgery (how little scar tissue...how well my lip was closed). i hope this rambling helps ) -becky
Guest guest
Be candid with your surgeon. Tell him how grateful you are for what you are grateful for. And ask for a referral to a surgeon who specializes in noses... As for who pays for revisions, I don't know anything about it. That sounds to me like a potential court battle, and I would go a long way to avoid being put through that, myself. But then I'm a timid soul. Mainly, though, I'd give it some more time and see whether you have more changes as the swelling continues to subside. A little bit of swelling can make a big difference in appearance. If he is upset about that -- well, he's not the right guy to do it anyhow. Any doc should welcome at least a request for a second opinion, I think. > Hey everyone, > > I haven't put up any pics since 7 days post op, so I thought I would > post some new ones. Guest guest
After talking to my hubby about my nose, I showed him what I was talking about, the bottom of my nose being off, yet, when I push my septum to the right everything lines right up, he told me that maybe it would be best if I go in for a consult with an ENT too. A consult can't hurt anything, and it may help if we discover that my septum can be fixed and I can breathe again! (especially since I've reached my out of pocket max for ins. and it's free!) And we both agree that my surgeon did an incredible job with the upper jaw surgery. DH was just concerned because we really can't afford another procedure if we had to pay for it ourselves. He didnt get the fact that we don't have to pay a dime no matter who does the surgery. That's why he brought up the whole " he messed it up, he should have to fix it " thing. I guess I'm just one of these weird people who got one problem fixed just to discover another underlying problem. But...it would make sense that as my upper jaw was overgrown, my septum grew as well to make up for it, therefore when the jaw was impacted, there was no room for it to go but to bend. I do have a great relationship with my surgeon, and he's such a wonderful guy, and maybe that's why I feel so bad criticizing his work on my nose. But....he is a professional, and I'm sure he will understand my wanting to have someone who specializes in noses take a look at me. I will bring it up at my next appt. and see what he suggests. Thanks for the advice. > > Hey everyone, > > > > I haven't put up any pics since 7 days post op, so I thought I > would > > post some new ones.
