Guest guest
Why would you feel kind guilty about only veggies? C <>< Re: problems with meat, etc I certainly depend on shakes for my protein. I don't absorb enough to count, even if it DID count. And then, I don't like much of it in the first place, AND I'm kinda iffy on what I DO like. I could do all veggies if I didn't feel kinda guilty about it. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Well, we were told to eat high protein meals, too, of course. Are veggies proteins in disguise? My meat is chocolate as O put it so succinctly, so that leaves me free to run nekkid thru the veggies. I'm not carb-o-phobic, either. I just have to be careful of CERTAIN carbs. Fruit is a tinder box for me. *A* fruit is ok, but when you go cutting them up and putting them in a bowl together, well, may as well them Fruit Peeps. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Very interesting... You are the second person to mention one fruit. I have found one fruit a day is okay too. Like you, I would have a problem with a bowl of it. (or if I had 1/2 c unsweetened applesauce vs. an apple) I do better too if I eat it at two different times... Actually I can't eat one whole apple at one time. (unless I am drinking with it) 1/2 apple and a little peanutbutter has been making a great snack for me. As for vegs, they seem to be annoying the tummy too...especially the good for me ones. Well cooked green beans in a SMALL amount I can handle. Celery is okay (is there any nutritional value to celery? As far as I know it is just a holder for a bit of peanut butter) Haven't had spinach in a while but I bet I could handle that ... will have to try that. Last night I had a part of a salmon burger. It wasn't great but it went down better than meats. I am going to make the leftover into a salmon salad for lunch and try it cold. Of course I never cared much for salmon in the first place so I am not surprised that I wasn't crazy over it last night. Another thing I can no longer handle... diet soda. Okay I know it is not great for us but I had gotten back to drinking it occasionally. Then after discussion this summer about " brown " and caffeine I got away from limited amounts even. Now the carbonation is annoying and I don't like the taste anymore either. STRANGE Re: Re: problems with meat, etc > Well, we were told to eat high protein meals, too, of course. Guest guest
My hubby is a VERY VERY picky eater. If he likes it, it is bad for you. He's gotten much better though since he has met me..he atleast eats his protein first LOL. So one day I thought I'd let him know that I was going to have a bowl of canned peas (he likes peas) and I hated peas but I was going to atleast show him that I could take my own advice and try foods I didn't like. I try to get him to retest food out that he's hated for years just to see if there is a glimmer of hope he'll eat more healthy hehe. So I fix myself a very small bowl of peas. I eat them and do my best to hide my grimace as the tight little balls bursting gross green mush inside my mouth and let him know..see...I did it . Little did I know how I'd react to peas later. I was clutching my stomach the entire night in absolute pain. I don't think I even ate anything the next day it was still so tender. Now this was after 1.5 yrs post op. I don't care if peas are determined at a later date to save ppl's lives...I ain't touchin them again! Somehow the skins got to me I guess...dunno but it hurt like hell and I felt every movement down my pipe through my poor stomach. So Only two foods are on my " it hurt like a damn volcano..so I never wanna see them again " list: milk and peas! For nutritional stuff on celery: http://ma.essortment.com/celerynutritio_rzij.htm http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-001-02s01uk.html http://www.taoherbfarm.com/herbs/resources/liver.htm Basically helps with blood pressure, cancers, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Copper, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Calcium and Potassium, help detoxify the liver....... I love celery. Yum with pb. Sherra Re: Re: problems with meat, etc > > > > Well, we were told to eat high protein meals, too, of course. Are veggies > proteins in disguise? Guest guest
I'll bet it was the pea skins! I've had a couple of excruciating nights from death-veggies too: in my case, mushrooms & bok choy. OMG I was doubled over for hours, gas gas gas to the nth degree, and it just SITS there. I was later told that mushrooms tend to swell in the stomach. Bok choy is a cruciferous veggie (a gas-maker), yet I have no trouble with brocolli or cauliflower or brussel sprouts -- go figure. Something else that did it to me: sesame seeds. So I would imagine all seeds can be problematic. The other night I tried a new recipe that called for whole grain mustard, and yep you guessed it --- I figured it's was 2 T for an entire sauce, and how much would I actually eat, right? Can we say stoooooooooooopiiiiiidddddddddddddd??? (My husband loved the recipe, BTW -- LMAO!) Guest guest
I love fruit, and can control amounts, EXCEPT for this one thing: frozen red grapes. Not frozen I can eat controlled amounts, but freeze them and it's shoot the wounded time. And I have to keep them in the house because guess who (the mutant) loves them too. Pop just ONE in your mouth and you're a goner. Lucille PS: WTF are Peeps anyway?
