Guest guest
I have to chime in here about the easy way out thing..... I have absolutley no problem with hearing that, and I have said it myself many times. I came to a point where if felt that I had exhausted all of my options and had learned enough about myself to know that there was no way short of surgery that I was ever going to see my 45th b-day. I essentially " gave up' and placed myself in the hands of my GP and surgeon to giude me through the process. If you had told me before I began contemplating the surgery that I would be sitting here today 138 lbs lighter I would have laughed outright. I let go of that feeling that I hadn't tried hard enough to ______________ (fill in the blanK with your choice of lost causes) and that I could really, really do it this time if I just committed myself more and realized that surrender was the only option. And am I ever glad I did. I now have the tools I need to hopefully lead a long and happy life. Please bear in mind that I am in no way minimizing the actual pain and agony of the surgery and post surgery period... I am only talking about the mental games we all play with ourselves as we go through this struggle. Just my humble opinion. Helena (papa11h@...) Guest guest
That is one of the reasons I didnt want to tell anyone about my surgery. Im glad I didnt I have the support of this group and my sister. Very important people in my life. Alot of peps at work have noticed my weight lose of 70 lbs. When they compliment me. I just " Its a long roadand I have a long way to go " . When they ask me how much weight I lost I tell them not enough yet, and laugh it off. But no way in HELL is this the easy way out. If they walked in our shoes they would know that. I would do it again in a New York Minute. I feel so good about myself now and much healthier. Its nice to run and play with my grandkids and not have to say time out grandma needs a break. LOL Sorry to ramble but this is PMS week and im about to choke anyone who makes the wrong remark to me. Guest guest
Both of the guys might get a very rude awakening. If you put on weight before the surgery most doctors will not do the surgery but make to lose a set amount so your skin isn't so tight and to give them a bit of before hand information about dieting and WLS. anne > I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN.
