I have only posted a few times with questions but I had my first

consults in April and May with my OD and OS. I am happy (I suppose)

to report that I will be getting my braces on 7/25. I'm 23 and I

know that is very young but I'm not happy about being in braces as an

adult. Everyone has told me it's not a big deal and I have seen you

guys post it as well, but I still have to get used to the idea. I

had braces when I was younger so I know what I'll be dealing with.

After braces I will be having my OS office do a pre-auth for my

insurance to see what dollar amount of the surgery I'll be

responsible for. I have my own insureance through my work and will

have my husbands BC/BS as a secondary... it would be nice if they

would pick up the majority of it but I'm not counting on it until I

know for a fact after the pre-auth. I will need to be in braces

about 16 months, that was a big surprise as I wasn't expecting it to

be that long. So that should put my surgery around Nov/Dec 2006. I

have an underbite so will be having lower only and will not be wired

shut. The major problem with my bite is not the appearance of my jaw

or mouth but that my top two front teeth are hitting my two front

lower teeth everytime I chew, talk etc and is causing me to loose

bone mass in my lower teeth and if not fixed I will lose those teeth

and even with replacements the problem still won't be fixed unless

the surgery is done. Well, that's my latest and greatest. I hope to

post more as things start moving. Thanks everyone for all your

messages, they have answered a lot of my questions.
