Guest guest
Hi, Being that I am only 3 weeks post op, I can't just yet answer your question as far as the surgery changing my life. I am sure once I am feeling better I will be able to answer. As far as weight loss goes, I have lost a total so far of 13 pounds post op and lost 10 pounds before surgery when the hooks were put in because I was eating quite a bit slower trying to avoid getting food trapped in the hooks. You really don't want to lose to much because you need your energy to get through the recovery period. The average seems to be around 10 pounds but some have lost a little more or less. Best of luck to you, > I'm about 3 weeks away from my orthognathic surgery, and while I don't > believe I'm a terribly bad case, I do anticipate it will correct a lot > of flaws that I am self-conscious about. Guest guest
I'm on Day 12 and I can't say whether it's really changed my life. My changes were very subtle, but I do feel a tiny bit more attractive, maybe. I weigh more than you and I doubt I've lost more than a pound or two. I never lost my appetite or my ability to eat soft foods, although I find myself giving up on things like French fries, which normally I would polish off. So, maybe I'll lose a few more. Some people lose 10 or 15, but I'm not holding my breath. Of course, you don't say which surgery you're having. I only had lower and was able to remove my bands for eating. If you're having more serious surgery or banding or wiring, you may lose more. Good luck! Guest guest
Losing weight also depends upon whether you are banded shut. I personally believe its lot harder to maintain weight with strained liquids. I am banded shut and I have a very hard time eating anything that even a little thicker than water. Thicker liquids clog whatever little openings are there in braces. In the end I give up finishing my meal and rinse my mouth. I started with 125 lbs and in 7 days i am at 115 lbs. Guest guest
I'm having work done on both upper and lower, so I'm assuming I'll be banded for a while. Oh man, this is going to suck. No pain, no gain, huh? > > I'm about 3 weeks away from my orthognathic surgery, and while I > don't > > believe I'm a terribly bad case, I do anticipate it will correct a > lot > > of flaws that I am self-conscious about.
