Where are you located, Vicki? I can't download yahoo messenger at

work, but I've got it at home. I'm on a physician assisted weight

loss plan through the nutritionist's office.

I'm in Nashville, TN. I've had 2 visits with my nutritionist so

far. I've already done the sleep study thing and the psych eval.

I've got to go for a 2nd sleep study because they determined that

I've got mild sleep apnea. Then, I've got to also go for a

breathing test because something about my body not taking in enough

oxygen or something. I'm just anxious to get all this behind me.

You guys are lucky that your doc even said anything to you guys.. My

primary care says nothing but " when is the surgery " and the doc that

is the " bouncer " for my surgeon as I call her only says " lose weight

i'll see you in a few months.. keep going to support group

meetings. and sends me home

That's just it tho laurette I cant!! LOL I have to stay with these

docs because they are the only ones that do it in my HMO and im

lucky that they even approved me.. It's just trying to figure out

what they want and doing it so she will set the surgery date. I have

an HMO and I have to see who they tell me

Most insurance policies do not pay for doctor supervised weight loss

and you would have to pay out of pocket and so the doctor would charge

you many times more what they would be paid by the insurance company

according to their contracts and since in most cases you cannot afford

this for a couple of months let alone 6 months it is another way to

avoid paying for surgery. Simple as that.

When I was diagnosed as diabetic my doctor at least did find a

diabetic education group and gave me two videos to watch and return.

Those videos said is was a simple thing to lose the weight needed,

just buy spagetti sauce without sugar as one of the main ingredients

and walk a few blocks everyday and be happy. But that did qualify as

a physician led weight loss program.
