>>> I had Open RNY surgery on February 22, 2002 at Morehead City

Hospital with Dr. Bell doing my surgery. I have gone from 288 pounds

to 170 pounds, am now off of my two diabetes meds, and one blood

pressure med. I have been a member of Obesityhelp.com since before I

had the surgery, and when I heard about this site for longer post-

ops, I came here hoping to become a part of a group of caring,

supportive folks.I am looking forward to meeting and talking with you

all!<<<

Welcome, . I am sure that you will enjoy this group and learn a

great deal. I have been a member since about a year pre op (Lurking

until my one year post op anniversary, of course) and love the group.

Hi eveyrone,

My name is Valencia, and I live in Las Vegas. I am 39 years

old. I had an open RnY on February 24, 2001, by Dr. Barry Fisher. I

started at 365 lbs and lost 160 lbs. in the first 10 months. I have

maintained my weight between 200 and 205 since that point. I would

like to loose another 10 lbs. but these have been the hardest 10 to

lose! I know it will take a lot more determination and will power to

get over these last 10 but we'll see what I can do to make it

happen. Oh yeah, by the way, Hi Sue.

So I got the basics :o)

I didn't even dare tell him about the peeps incident....he'll have to learn

about that on his own.

lol, Doc thunked me on the head the other day for being blonde. What's the deal

with that??

Just cause I showed him how to translate his website into Spanish. He asked how

long did I know how to do that? I said beats me....just something I knew! Then

" thunk! " right on the forehead...and he says " Blonde! "

Hmmmmmff!

....did you know that they paint their eyes on by hand?? We saw a show

on Peeps the other night. What do those folks put on their income tax return

for occupation.

Phyllis,

Now, no offense, but that's just weird. Effexor is an anti-

depressant used by many Dr.s as a diet drug. Your body (not you)

must be bass ackwards!! Go figure...

LOL well I never said I was normal! I know they use Wellbutrin for appetite

suppression, never heard of effexor used for that. However I very well may

be following in my mom's footsteps, she seemed to always have the direct

opposite effect from meds then what you were supposed to!

Cindy, I think I will lose weight the same way as you. I lose a few

pounds, stay there quite a while, and even go back up, then drop down

suddenly. I am 7 weeks out and have lost (ONLY) 32 pounds. I know I

am impatient. I hope to have lost as much as you in 8 months' time!

Janet

> dgallar2994, Welcome. This is a great group. Alot of help, advice,

and opinions go through here. I had my surgery on 11/24/03. I am

down 108lbs. I hit plateaus many times. I will loose about ten

pounds then plateau again. Irritating but that is how it works for

me. Sometimes the plateaus last for weeks. I have another 50-60lbs.

to go to reach my goal. Cindy in MI 316/208/145

Tee,

I don't have your insurance but do have an HMO. I too had to jump through quite

a few hoops. I luckily was not required to loose 10% of my body weight because

I haven't. We are all in the same boat here so feel free to ask any questions.

By the way, what does y/o mean? Just curious.

Hi Tee,

Welcome to the group! I'm in the Washington DC area

as well. I'm in College Park, land. I am in the

same process and have an HMO as well. My insurance is

Optimum Choice. They require 6 mths doctor monitored

weight loss and a psych eval. I am just finishing

month 3. My PCP wants a sleep study and stress test

done. They happen in the next few weeks. I am going

to Washington Hosp. Ctr and the surgeon is Dr.

Kirkpatrick. I have not met him yet. That will

happen Oct. 25th. Maybe this saturday if he is at the

support group meeting. Feel free to e-mail me.

(gcoliton@...) I have been doing a lot of

reading about wls to make an informed decision.

Keep us posted on your journey.
