Guest guest
Susiecue, I had the same procedure done and it worked well for me. Sandy -- Dizzy spells For those of you with dizzy spell problems. I went to my ENT with severe dizzy spells last year when I was loosing my balance and falling off of chairs etc. He said there are crystals in your ear & they sometimes become lodged in your ear canal & cause dizzy spells. He did a painless procedure where he had me lay on the table with my head off the table with him supporting it. I was to tell him when I was dizzy. Then he turned my head to the left and held it there & to the right. He then had me turn on my right side & I thought I was going to pass out because the dizziness was so horrible. Then he had me sit up & again I had major dizziness. I then had to sleep in the recliner for 2-3 nights & then elevated on pillows for a few nights and not on the affected side which was the left. My dizziness disappeared after that but came back & had to go through this again. Hope this sheds a little light for those of you suffering from dizzy spells. Guest guest
Tonya, It should get better gradually in the next few days. Blood loss, meds and poor nutrition all take a toll on our bodies. I was dizzy for the first week and a half to two weeks. Sometimes I thought I was sitting or standing straight, until I realized my husband was grabbing me as I started slipping to the side. Other times I felt like I was on a boat that was rocking back and forth. This to shall end. Take good care. Connie (27 days postop) > I'm 9 days post-op and am still having dizzy spells. Anyone else done > this? It's not just getting up from a sitting position either. I can > be lying down and have one. Just wondering if anyone else did this. Guest guest
Have you mentioned this to your OS? I think it would be worth a call anyway. Let us know what you find out. Guest guest
Hi Fran I had bad dizzy spells and popping in my ears, my surgeon said it was due to my sinuses being blocked and was affecting my balance, it did go after about six weeks post surgery, but you must take it easy and try not to do too much too quickly. Guest guest
Hey, Matt. It's good to hear from you, but I sure hate that you are having yet another problem. You know, it's weird, but in the past couple of weeks I've had 3 or 4 episodes where I feel really dizzy--ears ringing & voices distant--like I'm actually going to pass out, along with a sensation that is hard to describe, but it's like a wave of numbness down my body to my feet. It doesn't last long, but for those few seconds I feel like I can't move my legs or even feel them with my fingers. It sounds so bizarre that I don't want to mention it to my docs! If it worsens or starts happening more frequently I guess I'll risk being thought nuts (or more nuts than everyone already thinks) and tell someone. It has only happened when I was sitting, so I don't know if I would fall down or something. Anyway, it sounds like your episodes are much worse. What did they say at the hospital? Guest guest
Matt, I hope by now the dizziness has subsided. If it doesn't, I would be giving the neurologist a call. If you have any hearing loss or tinnitus (ringing or other sounds in the ear) it could be sarc attacking the 8th cranial nerve. When I lost hearing in my right ear in 6/99, I had vertigo severe enough that I had trouble turning my head to check for traffic while driving. I also had ringing & roaring in that ear. The vertigo was helped by Antivert, I think it was, and gradually improved. I still get it if I look up, lay flat on my back or turn my head just wrong. Oddly, when I lost hearing in the left ear in 12/99, I didn't have any tinnitus or worsening of the vertigo. Between these two episodes I had a Bell's palsy. All 3 of these things were blamed on viruses, although I had known sarc by lymph node biopsy in 1994. I didn't know enough to think of NS (hadn't even heard of it), but I really think one of the 3 docs I saw for all of this should of realized it. It took another 1-1/2 years, with numerous systemic & neurological symptoms, to find a neurologist who recognized what was going on. So please don't let them string you along like they did me. Guest guest
Matt,I get frequent dizzy spells and have gotten used to good ways to catch myself before I fall. I'm good around the house, but I have had to have my husband catch me when we go out. Hope your spells get better soon.--To: Neurosarcoidosis Sent: Thu, November 18, 2010 1:49:04 PMSubject: dizzy spells Hi I have been getting severe dizzy spells and had to go to the hospital yesterday. was wondering if that is a problem others are having. matt in eattle
