Guest guest
I had a Leforte 1 Osteotomy on Monday. I'm doing great other than the breathing. Extremely stuffy, but I'm getting through it. How long does that last? I don't have any pain, which I'm thankful for, but being stuffed up with my teeth clamped shut is working on my nerves. I stay focused and hope it passes soon. I had a real bad spell last night, but my husband calmed me down and got me through it. I went to bed at 9:00 pm and only got up once before 7:00 am. I think that is awesome. I think I will deal better when get more air through my nosrils. Using Beconase, Afrin and Ocean Spray, but still doesn't relieve it totally. I think she said 3-4 days on stuffiness, but I'm not sure. I have an appointment at 2:40, and will have to leave shortly, because it's 45 minutes away. Today is my son's 10th birthday and I hope to drink some ice cream cake when I return if I'm not too tired !
Guest guest
Hi Dee - I was hoping to hear how your surgery went. Glad you are doing well other than the stuffiness. I appreciated all the SARPE information before and anticipating that surgery end of Sept. I've decided to see another specialist in the meantime to get a third opinion re the whole plan so this may get delayed. She is one of the best orthodontists and cranio-malfacial specialists in Milwaukee, so I think she will add definite value to my case. I have allergies and take Allegra and Flonase which work wonders. I know my Dr. also says Nasocrom helps with stuffiness, wonder if they can provide that to you and if it would give any relief. Its scary to feel like you can't breathe. And it sure must suck to breathe through your mouth with the splint and bands being there. I hope this passes soon Happy birhday to your son and wishing you well. Amy > I had a Leforte 1 Osteotomy on Monday. I'm doing great other than the > breathing. Guest guest
Thanks for the b-day wishes for my son. He was very happy that mom came to " drink " cake with him. I must say it just wasn't the same!!! It was ok. I still like the ensure the best At my visit today, the Dr. told me that something tore in my nose and between that and the heat it's causing my stuffiness. Because of the tear, she seems to think it will last another couple of weeks. She showed my husband how to take my bands off and gave us permission to do that 4 times a day for 20 minutes. That will help with the breathing too Guess I have to listen to him or else he'll band me back up before I'm ready. I should be careful what I say, because I don't want to give the wrong impression...just trying to be humorous. He's been awesome through this whole procedure and I couldn't have done it without him. He's a peach! He's off another week to pamper me and the kids are between here and my moms. That's a big help! Good luck in all your research and please if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me. I would have to see with both procedures I've been through, I don't think either of them are that bad. The breathing was an issue, but it's not as bad now, because I know we can take the bands out and I can get air. I've had a long day and I need to get ready for bed. It's quite an ordeal to take all the meds! More later. Dee > > I had a Leforte 1 Osteotomy on Monday. I'm doing great other than > the > > breathing. Extremely stuffy, but I'm getting through it.
