Hey Halye,

i had my surgery on thursday as well. I had lower and upper done,

7.5 hrs under the knife. My major hurdle has been breathing to date,

I had a bunch of cysts that were removed, but it felt like my nose

was always clogged and making breathing so uncomfortable. I got smart

and just kept blowing and picking my nose. After a while i got some

real whoppers out that seemed to clear everything up.

Hey guys! I didn't have an upset stomach (only afternoon of surgery

in the hospital last Monday 7/18) so I can't help with that, but I

did have a huge issue breathing. I did find out at my post-op

appointment that something tore in my nose during surgery and they

said it would be probably 2 weeks for me before I was breathing

better. Today is exactly one week from surgery and I have found

that sleeping in an Air Conditioned room helps. It's been hot/humid

here in Maine and I can't stay out of the A/C very long. I get so

cold that I wrap up in blankets and wear a sweatshirt to bed (I

don't normally like it that cold when I sleep), but it has helped a

lot in terms of breathing. My Dr. also told me I could take a q-tip

and put it in peroxide and EASILY swirl around my nose and that

would help loosen it up. I would certainly run it by your Dr.

first, because they may not like that. My Dr. suggested it to me,

but she knows what I've been through...it helped me :)

Hope you get some relieft with the breathing soon, because I do

sympathize. It does get better though. I PROMISE :)

Dee, -C, ,

Thanks for your responses. Boy, this is great. Stomache problem

has cleared up today but still working on the congestion.

O.K. here's another question: My OS put this pressure bandage on my

chin before leaving the hospital and I can't wait to get it off. He

says to keep it on through Thurs when I see him (1 week post). My

skin is bound to be absolutely raw when it's removed. Any

experiences?

Also, I hate the numbness and can't wait to get some feeling back.

Halley,

Sorry I can't help with the pressure bandage. I have a headwrap

that I use to hold the ice packs, but I don't have to have it on all

the time.

I find this website is the best thing that I have found. It's nice

to communicate with others going through the same things. Most of

the Dr's. performing surgery haven't experienced it first hand like

we have.

I hope things get better :)

Halley, I had to leave my bandage on for 4 days. They suggested I

get in the shower and put warm water on it to remove it. But since I

was nearly passing out at the time, I just wet it and held the skin

underneath as I pulled it off. I have super sensitive skin and it

welted up for a while but then was ok. Just take it easy when

removing it.
