Guest guest
He does Miacalcin. I don't. That seems to be a major difference. Of course, some wt bearing exercise would help. I am going to do Miacalcin and when I can't turn my head, I'll stop for 2 weeks and try it again. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
Doesn't he have a gender advantage, ? The same way " they " do about losing weight (easier) and building muscle (bigger)?? Guest guest
Yes, and no. He still HAD osteoporosis, but has steadily gotten better. He is osteopenic now. But we're pretty much on a level playing field with the massive wt loss & malabsorption. And of course, the wrong kind of calcium. I guess I had a few more with my size & coloring and femalehood. But hey, I'm meaner. That should count for SOMETHING. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
ok so why is diet soda bad for us? and is sugar free carbonated water also bad? janice Re: Re: How much to eat He does Miacalcin. Guest guest
There have been some studies done relating carbonation or caffeine (can't remember which) to loss of calcium which in turn reduces bone density and can lead to osteoporisis. Carbonation can also be hard on our kidneys. Now, having said that, I do still drink diet sodas on occasion, either that or diet raspberry tea. Guest guest
A lot of that diet soda and carbonated sugar free water can have high sodium in it. If you drink too much of it and it has sodium, the excess sodium can contribute to fluid retention, blood pressure issues, kidney issues, etc. http://www.annecollins.com/sodium-diet-advice.htm The other thing you will want to be careful of is the sugar substitutes in them. Some ppl have had bad reactions like headaches to sweetners like aspartame. http://presidiotex.com/personal_stories/Diet_Croak_Addict/diet_croak_addict.html I mean some of this stuff you have to take with a grain of salt what you read. But I never find it a bad thing to read this stuff and listen to ppl, file it away for later, do what I want to do, do more research/reading, and then decide at some point in time if i need to make changes or not. You never know when you will identify with something/someone or some effect and a lightbulb will come on. As for the carbonation, I can tell you it feels pretty crappy in my pouch. I tried a few sips of pop and I really just didn't like how I felt afterwards. I have yet to try pop without the carbonation. I just lost interest in pop really. I always said, if I'm gonna drink pop, it better be full of sugar and be worth it! That was of course prior to surgery when mountain dew was my favorite and you could give me a rootbeer ANY day. I noticed a webpage on this subject from a dentist. He could be full of it I have no idea but I found it interesting on what his views were on carbonation and what it does to your teeth: http://www.dentalgentlecare.com/diet_soda.htm I have heard of ppl letting the pop just sit or also pouring the pop from glass to glass a few times to break down the carbonation. I'd think if you do it in moderation, the sodium and possible side effects of the sweetner would be small. Some of those drinks are just flat expensive. I was tempted to buy some of them a few months back but I decided not to get myself started. Sherra Re: How much to eat > > > > So you can give Don the old raspberries for me!
